Spinoff to food shopping poll
How much do you spend a month on food shopping/groceries? (not including eating out at restaurants) How often do you go? We're tracking all of our expenses in Quicken now, and I have no idea whether what we're spending is ridiculous or normal.

Re: Spinoff to food shopping poll
I think we spend about $250/month on groceries....or on stuff purchased at the grocery store, which usually includes bathroom stuff/cleaning stuff/etc. also
ETA: we probably need to start budgeting better with this but for right now we're not....we've also kind of had to be stocking the kitchen, so if we need a spice/oil/etc. we've had to buy b/c the kitchen really isn't fully stocked yet

Re: Spinoff to food shopping poll
we spend about $100/week on groceries and then probably another $100 every other week at Costco.
so I'd say we spend about $600/month on groceries total on average. ... although last week we only spent $80 and the week before that, only $60 which is a RARE occurrence for us!
we try to buy things in bulk at costco - protein bars, frozen chicken breast, frozen shrimp, frozen salmon, toilet paper, paper towels, eggs, lemons (geez who knew how expensive lemons were!), garlic, onions...
then weekly at the supermarket we mostly buy lunch items, snacks, breads, fruits, and veggies.

Re: Spinoff to food shopping poll
probably b/n 300-400+ easy, unfortunately, for just the two of us. prices are so ridiculous these days! we usually do like 2 big runs a month to the grocery and then little ones here and there to pick up a few items or needed ingredients. i think i want to do sams club instead tho!

I spend about $250 a month.. and even though Stop and Shop has great deals and isn't THAT far from my house, I tend to go to King Kullen bc I can touch it from my house!!

Re: Spinoff to food shopping poll
about $150. we're barely home so we really dont eat alot. i only cook about 2-3x a week because DH works nights otherwise I'll make a sandwich or something small for myself for dinner. We dont spend alot on junk foods either cuz we're not a fan. Maybe just a box of oreos but thats really it. Plus I only really buy stuff on sale at Pathmark and stock up so it'll last awhile.

Re: Spinoff to food shopping poll
We probably spend about $300 a month on groceries...we are all about checking the circulars and getting things on sale. We go food shopping about once a week or so. Not including runs to the deli for milk/bread/etc.- thats almost a daily occurence!

Re: Spinoff to food shopping poll
probably about $250, but i only cook like 3 times /week tops b/c he works at dinner time.
but when we were both home nights and i cooked every night we spent about $300-$400. That was 2 years ago and prices have gone up so it would probably be like $50 more now

Re: Spinoff to food shopping poll
We spend about $350-$400/month on groceries...I'm doing better buying what's on sale- if it's not on the menu for the week, I freeze it. If it's not on sale, I think about it first. We're also going to Costco more and buying stuff in bulk like paper towels, TP, etc. We go once a week to get cold cuts, milk, veggies and fruit.

Yes but I think you make much more fun and interesting dinners than we do....I've seen your menus!! We are typically pretty boring...and that's part of the reason...extra ingredients cost $$ hehe and we're too cheap!
