HELP! Canceling Wedding Suffolk County!!

Hi!
I need to cancel my wedding scheduled for next July. I booked in Suffolk County and I know there is a law that allows you to get back everything but $100 if you cancel within 6 months. I can not find that law can someone direct me to where I can find that actual law/code? I am going to have a lawyer send a letter to the reception hall so that at the least we can most of our money back.
Thank you in advance!

Any other advice would be appreciated as well....

I had to do the same thing 2 years ago. The reception halls in Suffolk are well aware of this even though they will not come out and tell you. We got all of our money back minus the 'bookeeping' fee which I think was $250 ( I am sure every hall is different.) I was having a problem at first, and they said they could not give me back my money unless the date was rebooked. I heard about the law on LIW, and found the posting that had the link to the actual law. I called them and told them that I knew my rights and had a copy. They mailed me my check in 2 days. I don't think you need to get lawyers involved IMO unless you have a problem. Hope all is well!!

Sorry to hear about that.

I was in your shoes 6 years ago, and it was the best decision I ever made...

I was booked in Nassau and lost everything, never even heard of the Suffolk thing, but that is great if it is true!!!!

In time, things will get better, I promise!!!
