Has this ever happened to you....

So many of my guests like to guess the price of my wedding. Several times I have gotten $35-45 per person.... Not quite. Not in NYC.

My mother says I should just correct them but I think that's tacky. I'm torn; I think If you're not paying, you have no need to know how much its going to cost. On the flip side, I am very insulted when ppl think it only costs $35 pp....

Example: Last night I went out to a movie with my girlfriend. After the movie she offered to buy me Wendy's because 1. I drove us and 2. 'you're going to buy me a $45 meal next year.'

<-- That's me in shock. LOL

Please share stories or advice.

I wouldn't tell them, you are right it is tacky, i would comment like 'i wish it was only $45' or something like that.

Personally, I don't think its polite to correct them.

But I would just joke about it ... 'I wish it was only $45, the cheapest I could find was $80 and that doesn't even include cocktails' and always add 'but I'm happy to treat my my friends and family and don't mind spending a little more on a better meal'

That's what I typically try to do. Last night I repiled ' I wish it were only $45. New York weddings tend to be expensive but that's where my family lives (I currently live in Georgia) and that's where I'm having my wedding. It's gonna be a great time!'

I would say somethinkg like ' 45. i wish' but u just said u live in GA right now but are gettin married in NY. Thats probally the reason right there. OUt of state weddings are nothing like NY weddings. So a normal wedding in GA may run 45- 50 pp. So maybe thats why...

Don't sweat it. Some people never had a wedding or when they had theirs it was so long ago that might have been the prices.

My sister's boyfriend thought that $75/pp was expensive until I gave him my NY Wedding Reception Magazine and told him to look in it and to add about $10 tor $15 o their lowest prices.

He can't believe how much it costs.

I wouldn't correct them either. Personally, I don't think it's any of their business how much I'm paying. Sometimes people like to guess how much you're paying per person to determine how much of a gift to give.

ummmm. why would anyone be trying to guest the price per head?! THATs tacky and weird. id try to ignore it.

wendys!? come on now.

id maybe give a look that kind of said 'are ya kiddin?' but wouldnt get into it beyond that. there is no reason for you to be having to tell people how much youre paying.
