No cocktail hour music????

who will not be having cocktail hour music?
I've been to a few weddings where there was no music and i dont think it was missed. There is so much talking and noise anyway so people don't even hear it. My cocktail hr is outside so maybe the RH can pipe some background music out there, but i don't know if i should pay extra to my dj for the 1 hr cocktail music...

What are you doing????

Re: No cocktail hour music????

I fell in LOVE with having a harpist play at my ceremony...but so far all the churches I've been looking at either won't allow it or have one of those HUGE pipe organs....sooo...I think I may still do the harp but during the CH... It's a soft sound that will be remembered as well... JMO

Re: No cocktail hour music????

the piano player from the band we're hiring is going to play- it's nice to have some background music but like you said its noisy so don't worry if you don't get someone!

Re: No cocktail hour music????

We're just having the RH pipe in some background music. I've never noticed the music during the CH. Guess I've been too consumed by the FOOD!! People are usually mingling anyway. Unless someone is trying to pick it out, it wouldn't be noticed.

Amazing!

Re: No cocktail hour music????

I am undecided. I'm kinda liking the idea of a steel drum during CH, but only if I get it for a good price. Othewise, if the DJ includes recorded music, then thats fine too.

Re: No cocktail hour music????

we're using FM, and they said all they do is set up the music and hit play. then they go set up their stuff for the reception. this is why it's free, so i don't really think i'd be willing to pay extra if that's what they generally do.

we used an iPod for our e-party. people complimented our music repeatedly. see if they have a sound system @ the RH and DIY.

Re: No cocktail hour music????

We probably won't have anything, the CH room has a self-playing piano that they will turn on if we request it. If anything, we'll just do that, unless we book with a DJ who also offers strings for a good price.
