how do you ladies feel when DH goes away without you?
in terms of being alone in your house (or apt)?!?!i am a huge p*ssy & HATE being alone in our huge house!! i think the biggest thing that bothers me is that our bedroom is ALLL the way in the back of the house on the second floor... so all these horrible thoughts run through my mind
my DH left for Denver last night & tonight i'm staying at my friend's apt b/c i really just hate being alone in the house!! i had to spend the night alone last night & you should have seen me - i was making sure all the windows and doors are locked & i even put a really big wrench in the track of our sliding glass door so if someone unlocked it & tried to open it, the wrench would stop them lol
is anyone else as crazy as me?!?!

Re: how do you ladies feel when DH goes away without you?
Doesn't bother me. He doesn't really travel for work, but when he goes away with friends I don't care. I'm lonely in the sense that i have no one to talk to while I watch TV, but i'm not scared. He actually works nights now so I'm pretty much alone all the time, you get used to it. I just go to bed and pass out.

Re: how do you ladies feel when DH goes away without you?
there are times when DH has to work OT shifts and its easier if he sleeps at the pct cause they are so close together--so every once in awhile i won't see him for like a day or two and i have to be alone.funny enough--i like it!
sometimes i just like hanging out by myself in the apt. and chilling. usually i'll have a friend come over to hang out and watch a movie or play video games. but then i just enjoy the entire bed to myself!

Re: how do you ladies feel when DH goes away without you?
DH is never away over night but I hate being home alone when it's dark out. I am always hearing little noises that scare me. I can't go in the basement to do laundry. We moved out to NJ when we got married. Our families are in Staten Island so it's not like we are that close to anyone in case of anything.

I always go away without him. I'd be fine without him for a while if he needed to go away though

DH is rarely away overnight but when he is I HATE it!! I agree with you. I guess I am so used to sleeping with him and feeling safe that when he is away the house seems scary...not to mention that my dog has a tendency (when DH is away) to stare at nothing and bark...scares me half to death!!! lol

If he is giong away for a weekend (like for his brothers bach party) I make my mom from PA come and stay with me. Funny thing is that i go see my parents in PA alot and leave him alone but it doesn't bother him...not me i hate it!

Re: how do you ladies feel when DH goes away without you?
DH used to travel all the time for work....but we have dogs which are great companions and 'alarms'...i am a black belt & ready to kick someone's a$$...and I have other methods of protecting myself...but i too made sure windows and doors were locked...you are not being paranoid or a wimp...it's a reality that a woman alone is a target. And one of the times he was away some drunk navy guy who looked like he'd been in a fight knocked on my door at 1:30am asking for a ride back to the base in Conn...freaked me out! Another time he was away a car pulled into my driveway around midnite asking if someone called a taxi...all i saw were headlights...

Re: how do you ladies feel when DH goes away without you?
i don't love it, but i'm okay.steve went to ecaudor for 3 weeks over the summer - so i had no choice but to be okay with it. he left me cute notes all over the house that i'd find randomly throughout the weeks, so that made it a little easier to bear.
the hardest part was that we could only talk about 3x/week!
i missed him like crazy but tried to stay busy! and cuddled with this one instead:

Re: how do you ladies feel when DH goes away without you?
I hate being home alone at night too. At first I was convinced my murderer was hiding in the basement and I paniced over every little noise. Now I am not so bad I have gotten used to the house and the noises it makes. I do lock all the doors and windows and make sure I have phones next to the bed though just in case. Oh and sometimes I am scared to go in the basement. It's pretty funny though because I used to babysit for a family and watch their babay while they went away skiing. There mansion was gigantic but I was never scared in that house. I guess I always knew I was faster than the two year old so.......survival of the fittest....right

Re: how do you ladies feel when DH goes away without you?
In the beginning it bothered me a lot. Especially when we both lived all the way in Chicago (with no family or friends that lived locally). I would be scared and sleep with a baseball bat and hammer next to me
. I kind of feel bad for anyone that would have tried to attack me. After surviving those nights all alone in another state and now that we moved back to the East Coast it is not so bad. He also doesnt travel as much as he use to. You are not alone many of us are scared.

Re: how do you ladies feel when DH goes away without you?
I looooooove it.I love being alone - occupying 5 rooms of the house at once, eating over the kitchen sink, drinking out of the bottle, going number 2, doing all sorts of stuff I wouldn't do around DH (gotta have some mystery, you know)?
eta: I'm not scared, never even think about it actually...

I hear ya!I'm a wuss....I get nervous before he leaves.
Once he's gone, I enjoy the quiet and doing my own thing...but only for a few days.....

Re: how do you ladies feel when DH goes away without you?
I am alone on the regular, due to my FH being a Firefighter and working overnight at least once a week....and let me tell you I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE ITTTTTTTTTT. Actually I think its the reason why we get along so well and will last forever. I love me time, and lived alone for a long time before living with him, so when its just me and jack (our pooch) I cherish my time...i think it also makes me appreciate him more. In all honesty i dont know how 'normal' couples see eachother every single day, ha!

Re: how do you ladies feel when DH goes away without you?
Unfortunately I am alone alot because DH travels so often for work...soon he'll be leaving for one entire week...and i am dreading it. I also get scared at night when he isnt around and all paranoid...the fact that my dog cant sleep good when DH isnt home doesnt help either. DH always offers for me to come with him but I dont want to tag along with him and his work buddies...plus now school started again so atleast thatll keep my busy. I think if i lived in NY near my family it wouldnt be so bad b/c i could always have people come over but here im away from my fam and most of friends so its different.

Re: how do you ladies feel when DH goes away without you?
I hate being home alone! We have an older house with lots of wood--lots of creaks that keep me up at night. I'll admit it, I act tough but i'm really scared of my own shadow sometimes
Luckily any time DH has had to go somewhere without me it's been over a weekend, so I make it girls-night and have all my friends stay over.

Re: how do you ladies feel when DH goes away without you?
I get a little jumpy so I know what you mean. We live in the basement of his family's house so it's a little different. But still I am all alone in the basement and I think every little noise is something. But then again, I have the bed to myself. He's going away tonight so I am going to try not to be jumpy.Welcome New Vendors
