I know everyone says they want money as a wedding gift...

but I'm kind of bummed that no one bought the rest of my china! We received 11 place settings but I want the serving pieces too. What I'm secretly hoping for is the happiest day lladro Anyone else want things off their registry instead of monetary gifts?

well i can't honestly say i rather get gifts than money. but did you have a work shower yet? i got a very generous AMEX gift card & bought some things off my registry. also, don't be surprised if you get home from your HM & you still have gifts coming. we had some from my parents & my in-laws friends.

Thanks! I don't think there'll be a work shower. Everyone I like is already invited to the wedding and came to my regular shower, lol.

Well you can use the money from wedding to buy the things you want.
It's the same thing as them giving you money verses giving a gift.....the only difference is them going to the store instead of you.

I know but we'll probably use the money to pay down the debt from the wedding, not towards our china.

I know I don't plan on using any money I receive for registry items - it's allllll going to a downpayment so I can understand if you may not want to do that. I do want my pots and pans and my knive set ... everything else can wait (I also want my blender that SOMEONE purchased but never gave me! I think it's FH's aunt who couldn't make it to the shower).

Yea I used one to get a place setting of china and I have another $50 GC left which will go towards the china but FH wants to wait until after the wedding

Yes, down payment is a good idea.
We just got our first house beginning of the year.....so I know how that goes.

DHs brothers are still going to buy us something from our registry but want us to pick out what we really want ... we're trying to decide what that is

people love buying china so dont give up hope!

yea definately want the rest of our glasses- I got all excited when FH's cousin from out of town asked where we were registered! I hope they get us some more glasses, we only have 4

We had a pile of gifts waiting for us when we got back from our Honeymoon, and even 3 months after our wedding (this week) we received a gift card for Williams Sonoma! So, they still might come!

Don't be sad, you'll get them over time or buy it for yourself slowly. It might even be fun! That's what I keep telling myself.

I would sooooooo rather get gifts than money - that's why I'm registered LOL The money will go to non-wedding things because that's what I do w/large sums - pay down debt. I'd much rather have all the fun things that I can't justify buying myself ... the stuff weddings are perfect for LOL

I want my china too!! I only got 2 settings from his grandma as an engagement gift. I've made such a stink about it, that I think a few friends have decided to buy me place settings instead of money as a wedding gift. I have already seen 1 set come off!! and my mom and sister have each bought me a serving piece with the 20% off coupon they got from fortunoffs! I know FMIL plans on getting stuff for the holidays too, but i don't want to wait that long. nor is that what I 'really' want for the holidays!

but i'd probably use some money from the wedding to at least buy a few pieces of china, so people might as well buy me a few pieces as gifts! I'm with you!!
