first day of school... (excuse me while I gag)

TOMORROW IS MY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL EVER! (as a teacher!)

I am getting SOOOO nervous!!

So instead of hanging around the apt thinking about it all day, I'm going shopping and hitting up the last of this weekend's sales Someone please tell me tomorrow is not going to be the worst day like everyone makes it out to be

I want to be excited about it.. I really do...

by the way, it's middle school

Where are u teaching? I'm teaching kindergarten for the first time. And its prob the first year I'm actually excited hahaha. But good luck! Everything will be fine!

I'm teaching Kindergarten this year too. In the past I've taught 2nd and 3rd grade. I've been running to stores all day looking for things to help me organize!

The first day is the most difficult. I just focus on learning names!

you will be okay i promoise....this will be my 3rd year teching and i def remember the first day ever....i was a basket case....i too teach MS and understand completely....you were hired for a reason and you have to remind yourself of that....best of luck

I usually teach kindergaten, this year i am teaching ctt first grade,

i remember my first year, i got up soooooooooo early because i didnt know how traffic would be.

i suggest you take a sleeping pill tonight so you can get a good night sleep!!

Youre all going to do great!! I teach 3,4,5,6 grade Science in an elementary school. on my very first day (5 years ago) i had a sixth grade class first period i remember their teacher walking them down the hallway and i went into my room and was like HOLY FUC K!!! theyre coming!!! They all sat down and looked at me like i had lobsters coming out of my ears, and i thought to myself what the hell am i going to say to them. And then it just comes....you will KNOW WHAT TO DO!!! Just relax and go slow and the kids are going to you!!!!

Good luck. Middle grade kids are generally good. They are more mature but not too defiant yet. My son is going into 7th grade and the other is also in the middle school, but 5th. I think 6th and up are usuallly good kids. You need to show them that you are stern but nice and unwilling to be walked all over from the start though.

I am just finishing up last minute plans and stuff, then showering so there's less to do in the morning then I'll probably lay in bed till I fall asleep reading my 'first year teachers survival guide'

I can't wait till this time tomorrow to give everyone the update. I want the first day to be over already! This is sort of the same feeling I had the day before my wisdom tooth surgery, how miserable is that? It better be good or it looks like I'm in for 180 grueling 'wisdom tooth surgeries' this year

you will be fine. I never get sleep the night before the first day of school; and I have been teaching for a while now. it always turns out great and there tends to be no reason to loose sleep. good luck tomorrow

You will be fine!! I teach 6th grade middle school too and the first day always flies by. Like a previous poster stated, be understanding but very firm with your expectations. Kids this age like to 'test' the adults in their lives and it's up to you (us!!!) to set the standard. Good luck!!!

This is my first year too and i'm teaching 7th graders, this past monday was my first day with the kids...it's scary, but never forget, YOU'RE the adult...hang in there...we can use each other for support
