Anyone else have this happen?
Today my colleagues threw me a shower at work, which was so sweet of them! It was beautiful and I loved it!
The one thing that threw me off is a few people asked why I picked what I did off of my registry. They said they even bought items that weren't on the registry because they didn't like what I picked. One complained that the cheese grater I picked was too expensive. I'm like, "Ummm...?"
Don't get me wrong - they got me beautiful things and I'm so grateful for what they all did, but my concern is that I really asked for stupid items...but I don't see how I could have, because I sort of went by what I needed, not what I simply WANTED.
I mean, my fiance asked for a couple of crazy things. However, that's, say, one or two items. The majority were practical things like bowls, plates, towels, sheets, etc. I don't get why people acted like
A -They had nothing to choose from B - I asked for the oddest assortment of items ever.
Did anyone else have this problem?? Tell me I'm not the only one who feels like a freak.

Re: Anyone else have this happen?
I haven't had my shower yet, so I haven't heard any comments yet, but I can tell you I definitely put some crazy things on there - like the Krups Beertender, and a High School Musical wall clock.
People are so rude sometimes with the things they say. Just ignore them.

Re: Anyone else have this happen?
I didn't have exactly that happen but what I did have happen was this...
Before and after opening my gifts I had people walk up to me and say that they "didn't like" what I picked, so they picked a better one. I just smiled and said thank you. Every gift that someone bought the "better" one...has either broken, melted, or doesn't do what it said it should do!!!
Don't take offense. If someone else makes a comment, just say......"Was it that expensive? I just wanted a good one quality one so everytime I use it in the years to come I can think of the really thoughtful person who bought it for me."

Re: Anyone else have this happen?
mkea- as soon as FH saw that beertender commercial he made SURE we had it on our registry, lol.
ETA: i've noticed that when it comes to weddings or anything wedding related, people always have an opinion. most of the time they should keep it to themselves unless asked!

Re: Anyone else have this happen?
here's a good one... my FMIL told me wow why is everything on your registry so boring and beige? I was like what are you talking about my kitchen aid that I put on was the color "almond" and that's what she ended up buying.....

Re: Anyone else have this happen?
i would take it with a grain of salt, people just like to make their opinions known...whether you want it or not! and who cares what they think of the items you registered! they aren't getting married! don't fret!
