Another first dance/reception timeline question
Past brides/future brides:When during the reception did you do your first dance? I have seen it done immediately after the reception intro, and also later about halfway through the reception.
What did/will you choose and why? I am leaning towards after the intro b/c we can have the bridal party join us after a few seconds. FH thinks this would be strange...but we are NOT dancers!!!

we did ours immediately following our intro into the RH....I have never personally seen it done any other way so I did not give it any thought

We did ours immediately after the intro. I've never really seen it done any other way, but I did have a friend who did TWO spotlight dances...one after the intros and another towards the end of the reception

Re: Another first dance/reception timeline question
We just sat down with our DJ last night and they told us about the 2 spot light dances. We our doing 'our first dance' right when we walk in, that will be just him and I, then half way through the reception they will do another one, and have everyone join us.

Re: Another first dance/reception timeline question
We are doing it this way:- Introductions (siblings, parents and then us.. indian weddings don't traditionally have bridesmaids/groomsmen)
- Speech by my dad, his dad and toast by both our brothers
- Then our first dance
- Then the dance music starts and everyone joins us on the dance floor
We wanted it done this way since we're already on the dance floor to help the dancing begin.

Re: Another first dance/reception timeline question
we are doing:parents/bridal party intro
our entrance
our growing up montage will be played after we circle the dancefloor (we are almost positive this is when it will be played - FH made it for us instead of the DJ so its kind of like he is playing it just for me with everyone watching - since he is making it special)
after the montage is over we'll go into our first dance - then couples will be asked to join us half way through- and we'll go straight into dancing from there....
at least that is the plan for now - we got to talk to the maitre d and make sure dinner orders can taken before we enter the room so that guests can be out on the dancefloor from the start

Re: Another first dance/reception timeline question
Wouldn't it technically not be a first dance if you dont do it first thing? I alwys just assumed it was right after your introductions for that reason

I thought first dance meant first dance as husband and wife or first dance of the evening.
