Weird POST wedding question........From DH!

If I didn't wear a garter...is that bad luck? And if so...can we erase it by eating the top of our cake on our 1 year anniversary?


I told him I could put a garter on and be naughty...but he insisted I asked the Goddesses of LIW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell DH I dont believe in bad luck!! I didnt do A LOT of wedding traditions and things are just fine for us

I didn't wear a garter either... why would it be bad luck?

i tried.. but i ordered a custom garter that came a few days before the wedding and on the actual wedding day i tried it on and it slid right off my leg.. it was WAY too big!

OK thank you ladies...he's stopped!!! But can you both say that we need to eat the one year frozen cake...that will make me happy!!!! Actually my mom happy!

no eating the cake in a year wont help, but giving it to me NOW would take away all bad luck caused by you not wearing a garter.

I coud really go for some cake now

I've never heard of that being bad luck......I do however think eating cake is good luck at any time!

is it supposed to be bad luck not to eat the cake on the anniversary? we have ours in our freezer, but we don't get home from our trip until the day after our anniversary.

O M G..............I have a ton of cake left and if I keep 'snacking' on it....I won't fit in the bed on our one year anniversary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My mom keeps telling us if we don't eat it on our one year it will be bad luck. Then we asked around and everyone that we asked is divorced and guess what.....they didn't eat there cake on their one year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's weird I know...but so is he and that is why I love him!!!

ok so now what do I do in order to eat this cake on the anniversary? should I put it in a ziplock in our carry on bag?? we're going to Orlando and a 3 night cruise to the Bahamas, on the 15th we'll be returning from the cruise and spending our last night in Orlando. ya think it still counts if we eat it on the 16th?

I have no quams with not wearing a garter...that's why I didn't wear one. But on the wedding night DH was looking for it and didn't find it. So I offered to put one on and have a re-do and he said it's too late now it's bad luck. I think my MIL put that thought in his head!!!
H E L L...I'll wear a garter 24/7 to make the man as 'happy' as he was on our wedding night!!!!!!!!! !!!

there was Drama? Dammit, i always miss it!!


I wore one but I never heard about the good/bad luck thing so i wouldnt worry!! Also, I didnt save the top of my cake !! I had no idea this was for good luck!

We didnt even keep our cake. It was in the trash within 3 days of the wedding. Its not bad luck, if you want to eat it, eat it. If not then dont.

I wont eat left overs yet I was expected to eat cake after it was frozen for over a year...nope I dont think so

As for the garter, I wore it but I took it off during the reception b/c it was itching my leg~never heard of it being bad luck tho

Now you my dear have my idiology!

I didn't wear a garter because I was all tulle and knew I'd get annoyed with it easily! It was about comfort not luck! DH thinks differently!

As for the cake.........unfortuantley all our friends who've been married and didn't eat the cake after a year are divorced. In his mind it is an omen...in mine...it's a ton of 'youngens' that got married way too soon for the wrong reasons.

Here is what I am going to do...........
on our one year anniversary, cover myself in cake and garters and pray for the best!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!

why didnt you have your garter??????????????? I gave it to the people at your rehersal dinner with the left over candy and tags in one of the bags the flowers were in...with the pearl earrings etc...??????????

I didn't wear a garter and we ate the top of our cake 2 days after the wedding. I thought it would be worse luck for my thigh to itch during the wedding and for perfectly moist cake to be left to freeze and dry out.
