I am curious to find out.....

what is the material your wedding dress was made of. Please check your label and then respond.

This whole time I thought my dress was satin....until I inquired about dress cleaning and preservation and they told me to check the label. I answered by saying satin and they said are you sure its not a polyester blend please check the label and I simply answered NO!

I get home to check the label = 100% polyesther!

Eww...***? I am pisssed. So I get online and start googling and come to find out Satin used to be made from silk but now its made from either polyesther, rayon, nylon, etc. Weird right?

Re: I am curious to find out.....

satin is a type of fabric weave.. not a content of the yarn. most people think of silk satin when they think of satin.. but as you found out satin can be made of different yarns.
Same with duppioni.. traditionally silk duppioni, but now is made with synthetics also.
The poly satin is probably more durable and sturdy and less likely to wrinkle. thats why many designers are using it.

i dont know bc i was looking up dutchess satin and found sites that sell dutchess satin and all say 100% polyster from satin something like that.

Your dress looked amazing though and the fabric looked so gorgeous so regardless of what it is looked amazing

Re: I am curious to find out.....

My wedding dress was a ballerina/cinderella style so I am guessing that the majority was a stiff tulle material. I had the bridal shop that I purchased the dress from clean and perserve it. So, they already knew what they had to do.

Mine was an Italian Silk Mikado (had never heard of it before my dress). Whatever your dress was, it looked beautiful, don't worry about it!
