I knew he would ask my parents permission, so I hinted to him a while ago that he should just ask my dad (mom's not great at keeping secrets). He did a week before he proposed.

Brian did ask my dad. he called him the night before. i found this out the next day :). My mom had to keep it a secret for a full day-very hard for her!

Yes Fh asked my dad. He knew I really wanted him to because my dad and I have such a close relationship so i knew it would mean a lot to him and it did to me as well. I always joked with FH saying, you know if you dont ask my dad first im just going to keep saying no until you do!

But after he popped the question, I too immediatley said "did you ask my dad"

No, but we had been together for 9 years at that point so they were waiting for it!

Yes he did, he called both of my parents, as they are divorced and live in another state. He also planned it so my family was there to surprise me right after he asked which was so awesome!

my fh asked my dad, he came over asked him a nd showed him the ring the day before he proposed...


funny thing is...he told my siste before anyone! lol

He went to my parents' house when my mom was coming to my house one night and asked my dad. He planned it for a day when she wouldnt be home because she wouldnt have been able to keep the secret!

yesss!!!!! After FH proposed and i of course said yes i asked him about all the little details. He said he took my brother and my fahter out to dinner and asked for my dads permission. I was awwww your sooo cute

Yes. The ring was picked out, half the wedding was being planned, but he would not officially ask once he had the ring in hand until he asked my Dad. My parents, being realistic New Yorkers, said "start planning if you want the holiday weekend" knowing he couldn't pick the ring up yet (paying it off), and treated his request no differently than if it came as a total surprise.

My Dad and he had a long talk about marriage, and my Dad told him that it was the best 50th Wedding Anniversary gift they could ask for (they hit that a month before the wedding).

Then, he asked me, officially.

Yes my FH asked my dad. Coming from a very traditional family, if FH didnt ask, my dad would have held it against him for the rest of our lives. I just think its a sign of respect

FH asked my mom (my dad passed away almost 12 years ago). We were hanging out one day, and I thought he was going downstairs for a drink... and then I heard him talking to my mom... but then I kind of realized what was going on... so I turned up my TV so I wouldn't hear them

He didn't ask me until three weeks later so I was surprised.

Yes my FH asked both of my parents. They both said you had our permission from day 1. We love you & would love for you to be part of our family. I was actually there when he asked. It was so sweet.

nope, he didn't tell anyone ( except my grandma b/c i have her ring) he knew if he told anyone they would have told me and he didn't want it ruined. When I called my family they were in shock, but extrememly happy for me!

Yes My FH asked my dad and my best friend(MOH) bc she got engaged 2 weeks prior and wanted to make sure it was ok with her I thought that was so awesome!

Yea FH ask my mom like 6 hours before he was going to do it!!!! He's so cute

FH called up my parents and asked them. They were so excited my Dad though it was a joke at first, lol. I would have been upset if he didn't ask them and he knew.

yes he asked my dad, and he was the first to be like when i asked your dad he was happy and gave me a hug and said welcome to the family,, i thought it was cute he was excited

its not something that i ever really thought about....


however, he did go over to the house and ask them.... he hung out for about a half hour and showed them a picture of the ring!!!

i am so glad he did that.... i thnik that was so sweet!!!

FH asked both of my parents... they were all sitting in the room together when I was at work one night. His whole family knew as well.

Yes and my dad kinda gave him a hard time about it (like in a busting his chops kind of way) and was like permission is not the right word to choose and stuff like that. Then he told FH he had to ask my mom too. It was pretty funny.

My FH asked my parents. He had bought the ring on 2/23 with his sister and then went and asked my parents on 3/9. He was so nervous - he brought them the ring to show them. We've been living together for 6 years already so it wasn't really about "permission" - it was more for their blessing which he knew he already had. FH then went to his parents house right after and showed them the ring too so everyone in our families knew. I have no idea how no one spilled it!!!

yes he did. my parents love him and were very happy. my dad and him drank a beer to celebrate.
