yep - he called to ask my dad and told my parents the plan - and of course his parents and sister and FBIL knew....everyone was so excited im just glad nobody ruined the surprise!

FH told my dad a month before that he was going to ask me. My dad was funny and told him that he didnt have to ask or tell him anything that we should do what we want to do its our lives.

Yes FH asked my parents permission. They knew that it was coming, I knew he was going to do it so I gave them the heads up! The thing that I didn't know was WHEN it was going to happen! It had been two months after he asked and I'm like he is never going to ask me! So the weekend that he was going to my friend and I were talking about how he hasn't proposed yet and he did it THAT weekend! It's funny how things happen. FH wouldn't have done it without asking permission first! My parents were like what are we gonna say no?!

he asked my daddy at my parents house during a holiday dinner when i went to the little girls room. he went downstairs to the basement to ask him & i came back to the table and my mom & FMIL told me they were hooking up the new tv down there. they took forever and when they came up i yelled mazal tov cause they took so long and i wanted to go home. FH, my parents & FMIL had these weird facial expressions after i said that. later on i learned that they thought i knew but i had no idea.

Yes he asked before he even talked to me about it. Then when we had our "serious" talk he told me..yea I spoke to your dad like 3 months ago. I was like whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

Yes FH called my parents and asked their permission the morning before he proposed. I had just gotten off the phone with him and told him I was jumping in the shower, he knew it was his chance to speak to my dad without me knowing....

One of the first things I said after "YES!" was "oh my god....did you ask my dad?!" hahahah I don't know why i thought of it right away !

It just popped into my head and made me laugh so hard.

And yes he asked and I think thats the cutest thing ever.

Yes....my parents and his are old school so he did out of respect for them....and right after i said yes, i asked if they knew - and to my surprise, everyone knew!

Yes, he asked my mom and step-dad. They asked him to wait to ask until after my brother's wedding. He held on to that ring for 4 months before he gave it to me!!! Poor thing!! I thought it was really sweet that he waited though, and it definitely made my parents VERY happy!!!!

FH asked my parents...because he swears I told him my BIL asked my parents (which he didn't). My Mom told the whole family the minute we left for vacation (he did it when we were away). My Mom wouldn't even get out of the car when they dropped us off at the airport cause she said she thought she was gonna cry.
He didn't, however, even tell his parents, who were quite surprised when we called to tell them.

Nope my FH didn't ask anyone. We barely speak to my father. He is very close to my Mother, but he wanted it to be a genuine surprise. Honestly if he had asked my Mommy, she would have told me and ruined the surprise. Haha

It was perfect just the way he did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep- Pat went to see my Dad while I was at work and actually showed him the ring. LOL, my Dad is a Jeweler as a side job so I guess he wanted his approval. I had NO clue he did this and of course, I asked as soon as we got engaged. He said "Don't worry- Dad approved!"

Fh didn't ask my Dad but I think my Dad loves him more than me so he never would have said NO!

Yes and he didn't even know what was he saying, because my parents don't speak English and he doesn't speak Polish!!! But they said YES!!!

my father passed away a year before he proposed... but before he passed my fh would always tell him that he was gonna marry me and take care of me... he didnt ask my mom because he was scared she was gonna tell me.

Yup! They did a good job of keeping that a secret, he did it a couple of months before he actually popped the question

We sat down with them together and the four of us talked about it. Afterwards my parents had been prepared so they broke out champagne. It was really nice.
