Re: Band or DJ?

well depends on your budget, but a live band is more expensive than a DJ. Another option would be to use a DJ but add elements of a live band into your reception (ex- like using a percussionist, etc.) Most DJ's have these add ons available if you would like them.

I am using a DJ but a steel drum player during my CH. Its something that works w/ my budget as well!

Re: Band or DJ?

I agree, it mainly depends on your budget, but like Jenny said you can have the dj with the add ons, just a matter of preference

Re: Band or DJ?

I have done so much research and gotten a lot of quotes from both Dj & Bands.

Depending on your budget, I've seen Dj's for around $1000 all the way up to $5000.

Bands, range from $5500 all the way up to $30,00!!!

Out of all the dj's I saw, body rock was the best. They were just so professional.

All the bands, Vali Entertainment was by far the best, but very expensive. Soul Revival was good and very reasonable.

Re: Band or DJ?

I'd rather a band, but a DJ is more in our budget!

Re: Band or DJ?

I want a band in the worst way... so we're looking into it. I feel our budget is more set for a DJ with a percussionist and live singer.

FH is afraid the band won't be good at all types of music, he's a country guy (I know...) and I like dance and rock so.... we might go with a DJ to ensure everything is played well.

Re: Band or DJ?

i'm doing a DJ. the main reason is my FH is so into music and we are afraid that the bands will change up the songs they cover and we wont like it. and our wedding song that we picked is from a norwiegen singer that it not popular here.

Re: Band or DJ?

I prefer a DJ because I like the music by the original artists. I hate hearing the spin the band puts on my favorite songs!

Re: Band or DJ?

It's a matter of preference, I had a choice because FH's family offered to pay for entertainment but I chose to have a DJ, I like to hear songs from the actual artists and I felt that I could have more of a variety of music with a DJ....but the band at the bridal extravaganza blew me away!

ditto....we weren't fans of having a live band--and probably wouldn't have been able to afford it. so we had a percussionist play with the DJ.

but if you have a band that you love and can afford---thats great!
