Re: seating cards at E-party?

we did a buffet and did not have seating cards. I dont think its really necessary unless you are having a sit down dinner for the party.

Re: seating cards at E-party?

we had a buffet and we didnt have them but our place did offer us the option so i dont think its 'wrong' to have them just cuz its a buffet, it could go either way

Re: seating cards at E-party?

yea, we're only have 6 tables (60 is our max for the room) and its either FMIL gets 2 'reserved' tables or we do seating charts.

Re: seating cards at E-party?

I am doing seating cards because my room holds about 100 and I have 90 people coming. So since I maxed out the room almost, I didn't want it to be a problem.

If you have plenty of extra tables, then I would say don't need to do it.

Re: seating cards at E-party?

we kinda figured out where people were sitting, like i knew what table my parents were out...which section we wanted our friends so when people walked in and saw no place cards since we were there greeting them they would ask 'do we just sit anywhere' and then we kinda directed them to where they should go

Re: seating cards at E-party?

I don't know if it really matters whether its a buffet or not, but if you only have 6 tables, I wouldn't bother with seating. (Unless you foresee a problem with the who's going to want to sit with who.)

more like my FMIL seems to hate every idea i have all of a sudden and she is insisting on having two tables reserved just for her but with only 6 tables i think thats a bit much, so my compromise was going to be seating cards.

ahhhh mom-inlaw-zilla! I would probably just give her the two tables and leave it alone. There's gonna be so many more tough decisions in the wedding process so don't let her stress you out this early in the game. Pick and choose your battles! lol

i know how to pick and choose battles, i just think its ridiculous to ask for a third of the seating

Re: seating cards at E-party?

We're not having any seating arrangements at our e-party. We figured its more casual than the wedding and everyone can figure out who they want to sit with and to play nice. Also, people are sitting for such a short time at an e-party its not even worth the effort. JMO.

Re: seating cards at E-party?

I am all for the seating cards. I've been to too many casual events where the guests stress over where to sit. Especially when not everyone arrives at the same time and you're not sure who is coming that you may know. You have to ask people to move over a seat, etc. For me, it doesn't matter what the event, shower, christening, e-party, the seating cards make it easier.

Re: seating cards at E-party?

we had a brunch that was buffet style, and did not have assigned seating.

its one of the only things i would change about the day.

there were lots of small tables, and people who wanted to sit together couldn't b/c of how people randomly sat down.

we ended up sitting with dh's parents, which was fine ... but i think some of my family felt slighted like we picked his side over my side to sit with.

reality was ... we had friends who traveled from boston and chicago that we would have liked to spend more time with.
