Did I commit a wedding sin? long sorry
I was at a wedding a few weeks ago for a friend and I had to order the meal in advance. I chose the beef dish. When they delivered the food, my 'beef' dish was actually some weird pressed steak with some weird stuff inside that didn't look right.... I conferred with others at my table, most of whom ordered fish or chicken, and everyone agreed that I should absolutely not eat it.So I called the waiter back over and told him something was wrong with my food. He started to get all testy, telling me this is how the food was supposed to look, and I just asked if I could please have a different dish. He then told me I had to wait until everyone else was served and if they had anything leftover they would give me that! FH cut off some of his chicken and potatoes and put it ona bread plate because I was starving, and finally about 20 minutes later the waiver brought me over some fish.
I have no idea if the bride and groom were charged for my extra meal, and I felt bad because I felt like this was something you should never do at a wedding -- but the meat looked horrible and I wasn't going to eat something that gross looking!
Opinions? What would you do if someone at your wedding returned the food?
EDITED: Oh, and the RH was across the country so it doesn't matter for us!

you did nothing wrong. If it was my wedding and that happened I would have wanted you to order something else so that you could eat. Thats JMO, I'm not sure if the RH would charge for that, I don't think they should and I doubt a reputable place would.

Re: Did I commit a wedding sin? long sorry
i dont think they were charged... he said if there were extras hed bring it to you so they were making it anyway, ya know?i think what you did is alright... you didnt make a huge deal about it...you didnt tell the bride and groom themselves... i think its okay.
if i saw something i was uncomfortable eating i definitely wouldnt eat it either.
dont beat yourself up over it.

You did not do anything wrong. If someone returned their food at my wedding I would make sure that they were given an alternative dish- I would never want my guests to eat something that looked bad. I might be really embarassed if the food looked like you described.

You were 100% correct in the way you handled it. You didn't cause a scene, just told the waiter. That is not a problem at all. Now, I'm curious too....can you tell us what RH?

Sounds like you did the right thing, i doubt they were charged for it because it was probably someones plate that didnt show up. I wouldve done the same.

I dont think you commited a wedding sin or that they had to pay for an extra meal. Better you enjoy your food then potentially talk bad about the place and how yucky the food was!

If i found out i would have a very long talk with my BM! I wouldnt be happy with them for serving food that was terrible looking. I wouldnt mind my guest returning a plate. i just would definitely want to know about it so i can handle it accordingly!

if someone wasn't satisfied at my wedding i would want them to order something else. i wouldn't want any guest leaving hungry so i wouldn't mind at all. i don't think you did anything wrong.
