Disney Contemporary REsort

Has anyone stayed the the Disney Contemporary Resort? Or do you have any other resorts that you recommend? ME anD Fh are planning our honeymoon to Disney this fall. I have been reading the other thread and found some good info. Also could you recommend some romantic places we could go. I like the idea of the yacht rides and such ... TIA

I stayed there last yr. It is very nice but more of a business place. Not so honeymoon-ey. What about the grand floridian or the polynesian???

Re: Disney Contemporary REsort

I stayed there years ago, and it was fantastic. The Grand Floridian, I think it's called, is the nicest, but the Contemporary is SO CONVENIENT and also a great hotel.

Re: Disney Contemporary REsort

I have never stayed at the Contemporary Resort, but have eaten there and been there to shop many times. It is more business than honeymoon at that hotel. I would go with one of the replys that said the Polynesian. The Polynesian makes you feel like you are in the middle of a tropical rain forest with great food and a view of Magic Kingdom. For romance try the California Grill which is the restaurant on the top floor of the Contemporary Resort. It is has beautiful views. Disney also has couples massages available at some of the resorts if you and your FH are looking for some relaxation. By the way, if you can't tell I am a huge Disney fanatic so if you need any advice just let me know. Good luck!

Re: Disney Contemporary REsort

The Contemporary is a nice resort. It can be a little sterile though. The decor is not as romantic as some of the other resorts on property. Also, there is a tremendous amount of construction going on there right now. They are builing another wing to the hotel for Disney Vacation Club owners.

I was going to book my honeymoon at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and then found out there was construction on the property. Nobody wants to walk past construction cranes during a romantic late night stroll

Re: Disney Contemporary REsort

Okay so the following is comming form a Disney Cast Member :)

The Contemporary has been completely renovated in the past year and a half. It is very zen like feel, computer in the room, very modern feel. The monorail runs right through the resort so your 2 steps from Magic kingdom. Great Dining...if you stay there i recomend a tower view room with a view of the theme park so you can watch the fireworks from your balcony instead of standing like a sardine with everyone on main st.

The Grand Floridian is Disney's Flagship resort. Very Victorian feeling, and decor in the rooms reminds me of Laura Ashley bedding. It also has the monorail right there and has some AMAZING resturants, including victoria and alberts which is about 125 pp for a 7 course dinner that is completely customized for you by the chef. They also offer Theme Park View rooms. (we are staying here for 3 nights of our HM as well)

The Polynesian Is also located on the monorail. It makes you feel like you are in the south pacific. if you go down to the lobby in the morning, Auntie Cowie is there and she will teach you the hula....she has had PBS specials on her...amazing. Great dining as well. The rooms are a bit dark to me because of the wood and theme of the south pacific furniature.

I hope that helped a bit and sorry so long...i will also HIGHLY reccomend getting the Deluxe Dining plan. It will save you 40% on your meals and you can use it anywhere. Also for the Dinner shows that can run you over 50 pp. TOTALLY worth it. The only palce you cant use it is Victoria and Alberts....Unless you get a Platinum Plan, but that starts at 3K a person...

Have fun!

They are no where near where you will be walking :) its all the way to the side.

Same with the Contemporary. You cant see if from the rooms unles you are in the last few rooms on the garden wing. but there, are the standard cheapest rooms so if you picked that im sure you werent picking it for the view :)
