what programs do you girls use to make one and what version? (i.e. microsoft word 2007)

I've been having some trouble with creating a monogram because the font I LOVE isn't printing correctly. Thanks for posting this link! I'm new to PowerPoint, so this is extremely helpful!!!

I used word 2003. I have to save them as a jpeg or gif, then they'll be in my album.

I think the pros use Adobe Illustrator but I couldn't figure it out. I'm currently trying to make Microsoft Word do what I want but it's not really cooperating to do layered letters and stuff!!

I've been trying to figure out how to use photoshop on my own but apparently i'm challenged

I want to do our monogram so that our first initials are connecting...'N' and 'K' so something like this...
NK but with a pretty font :)
