That is pretty intersting...

But I guess its the AVERAGE, and Long Island and Manhattan weddings are probably a little more than say a wedding upstate New York, so when you average it all out, it may come out to that...

Is it rude to ask how much people usually give at a wedding? If its 'just a friend' I usually give $250 - $275 for Fh and I...What does everyone else give?

FH and I have been giving $200 - he's been unemployed for quite awhile. Maybe we'll give more now that he started working! :)

of course that means some people spend 20 and some spend 500!!

The interesting part is that even though it's an average, it matches, about, what you spend per guest on your reception . . . .

That's what I give, no lower than $100 pp (which has been the 'tradition' in NY for years and years, so not much has changed). For close friends, more . . . . For my closest friend, I bought them a hand made tea set and put a check IN the teapot. They didn't realize until like 2 months later when they went to use it!! That was awesome. I was like 'did you really think I only bought you a teapot and 2 cups????'
