What would you wear to a vineyard wedding? POLL and another Question

i'm starting to worry that people are going to show up to my wedding dressed pretty casual since the reception is at a vineyard.

it is still a friday night wedding. i'm not expecting tuxes and gowns from people but at least guys with a tie and jacket and girls in nice dresses.

what would you wear?

also, if i want a more formal dress should i say something on the invite? suggestions?

THanks!

Re: What would you wear to a vineyard wedding? POLL and another Question

i would wear a to the knee or to the calf dress - not a casual dress, like a cocktail dress, and i would dress it up.....

ETS: this exactly what i would wear to ANY summer wedding at ANY place unless it was black tie - then maybe i would wear a long dress...

I would wear a cocktail dress. It's still someone's wedding and I feel like option 2 would be too casual. JMO.

Re: What would you wear to a vineyard wedding? POLL and another Question

I am afraid of this too. I have a day wedding, but it's at the Fox Hollow ... which I feel should tell people 'dressy,' but even on here, people think 'Day wedding? I'll just wear a skirt and a nice top.' And I want people to dress as if they are going to a night wedding. So, I am writing 'Cocktail Attire Please' on the invite so that people know. I was going to write 'Evening Attire Please' but my sister thought people would think they needed to wear gowns. I don't care if they do wear gowns, but I don't want people thinking it's a black tie affair.

Re: What would you wear to a vineyard wedding? POLL and another Question

Yeah, the fact that it's at a vineyard to me isn't a reason to 'dress down'. The fact that its a Friday night affair means that I will wear a nice dress. FH and I actually worried a little bit about this....we are having a Saturday afternoon wedding and we are doing a BBQ for the food in addition to a buffet. He wanted to put that on the invite. I said absolutely not lol guys will show up in shorts and a t-shirt.

Re: What would you wear to a vineyard wedding? POLL and another Question

Friday NIGHT = Dressy (IMO) I voted Cocktail dress. And ya know what, Vineyard weddings are not cheap. I think some people have the misconception that you're having it at a park. I remember my FH & I wanted to get married at Raphael Vineyards and they wanted a $10K site fee!
That didn't include anything at all!!!!

I vote dressy, but I always think 'better to be overdressed, than under dressed'

I'm also getting married at Fox Hollow during the day, I HOPE people wear cocktail attire! I'll pray for you if you pray for me LOL

Re: What would you wear to a vineyard wedding? POLL and another Question

I wear a cocktail dress to any wedding I go to, regardless of day or time. I think most people know this, but you never know -- at my brother's wedding, which was Black Tie, there was a guy in slacks and a sweater, and a relative from CA in a sundress and sweater. So, no matter what you do, I think some people will dress up, others down.
You can write 'Formal Reception to Follow' -- that seems less dressy than black tie.
