hockey ??

So my FH and I went on our first date to an Islanders hockey game and then he proposed to me in the parking lott at an Islanders game. We go to as many games as we can together during the season. The Islanders and hockey play a huge part with us. We wan to incorporate this into the wedding, but not make it a huge theme. some of the ideas were thought of were...

Hockey Pucks with our pictures printed on them as part of the favors. Inculded would be a scroll of some sort expalining why its a hockey puck. We found a web site that has this.

When we are first announced as husband and wife at the recpetion and walk through the bridal praty, have them hold up hockey sticks (the girls would have some type of holster to hold he bouquets) for us to walk under.

the song that we'll play as we are announced in to the reception will be islanders goal song.

Any opinions on those ideas?? Is it tacky?? Or anyother ideas you can suggest??

Check out GettinHutched's review and pictures, she had an AWESOME yankees themed wedding! Might give you ideas of how to incorporate hockey and the islanders into your wedding.

my latest thing is i want my flowers to be sunflowers... so i figured if we do hockey puck favors we can somehow wrap the puck with fake sunflower petals so that it looks like a sunflower and isnt just a random puck i guess

you could do an awesome hockey groom's cake!

have you ever seen ace of cakes, the show about duff and his bakery 'charm city cakes.' they had an episode where the cake was a replica of the hockey rink complete with the bride and groom skating, and a real Zamboni machine with an LED light. it was awesome.

I like it alot. We are doing a boxing theme because FH is a pro boxer/kickboxer. When we are intorduced at the RH we are having the guys come in with black boxing gloves, the girls with white, and they will hold them up for us to walk through. The gloves will say our names and wedding dates, and thye will be for them to take home. When we come out we going to walk out to one of his songs that plays when he walks into the ring at his fights.

Our programs will also look like a boxing program, maybe you can do something like that? I love the hockey puck idea! Our menus will be boxing themed, and our place cards will be displayed in a boxing ring in the shape of boxing gloves. Maybe you can do yours Islander colors, or make them look like hockey pucks?

i was going to do the islanders goal song for the entrance!! i kinda regret not doing it. we ended up doing 'ole' from bouncing souls which they use alot in soccer games. we're huge islanders fans and i look forward to seeing your future projects

Awesome. I am an Islanders fan so if that is how me and my FH got together I would say go for it. The day is for you and him have FUN with it. I think if will be a blast.

FH is a huge football fan so we;re having a small football theme.

his fave team is the buffalo bills so all of our tables will be names after his favorite players. we're going to enlarge a picture and put it in a frame....our place cards are going to be jerseys of the player whose table you will sit at. our table is going to be the bills stadium.

we're also walking in to monday night football theme song i believe. the bridal party might be running in with footballs and we're also stitching the groomsmens last names and favorite number on the back of their vests so when they take off their jackets it will look like the back of a jersey.

FH and I are Islander fans too. The only things we are really doing is well, we took our epics in our jerseys (pics in album) and possibly buying an isles garter.

I really like the table numbers being players numbers (like GettinHutched did in her Yankee themed wedding)

You can also make the bridesmaids dresses blue and get blue white and orange flowers for their bok's.

Maybe you can hire Sparky to come with the ice girls and toss tshirts into the crowd! That could be your favor lol j/k

When you and DH are walking in why don't you just have they GM hold the hockey sticks up and the BMs can hold their bo-ks? That was you wont have to worry about what they are going to do with them.

Why don't you maybe get a Islanders cake topper, also a garter? An Islanders Groom Cake?

Maybe little hockey sticks as drink stirrers (if they make them)

I wanted to get the Islander garter off ebay for my something blue, but FH will hear none of it. 'I don't want that logo anywhere near that part of your body!!!'

found hockey stirrers cause i thought hte idea was adorable! but you have to order 5000!!! and it ws like $1000. so i have to keep looking
