When is too early to start planning?
Hi all,Obviously excited about just booking the RH, I'm starting to think and plan...however, the wedding is not until Feb 2010. When is the optimal time to start planning? I'm concerned about planning too early, getting things done, and changing my mind later down the road. The alternative (sitting and waiting for time to pass) isn't so appealing!
Any other 2010 brides share this concern?

i definitely feel you-- though i haven't even booked my place yet. the feedback i got was that booking the RH was a good idea but some vendors aren't booking for 2010 yet.... i don't know for sure though.

Have you tried e-mail/calling the vendors your considering booking to find out is they are booking for 2010? So far, I came a cross a decent amount of vendors that are.

Re: When is too early to start planning?
i booked my RH a month ago i believe I'm getting married April 30, 2010. They had a good deal of dates starting to book for 2010. I booked my photographer/videographer as well. Those are the 2 I would book ASAP. They book fast. I've looked at DJ's and I know who Im going with but i didnt book yet, he told me if someone tries to book my date he'll call me first and i'd have to give him a deposit then. I haven't even looked at flowers or dresses I prob wont start that for a year. The good thing about booking now besides getting your date is the prices are todays prices in 2 years everything will go up in price. I'm also getting married at my RH so I didnt have to book a church but thats another thing to book ASAP. As far as limo's new cars come in every year so its kind of hard to know what to book because it's always changing and most places wont carry the prices over that i spoke with. Good luck.

Re: When is too early to start planning?
Its never too early to start looking. As far as the place I think its a better idea to book early as you can try and get a better price, plus you have longer to pay it off.I have booked my photo/video and florist, but thats because i found people that i liked and liked the prices.

With your date it might be a good idea to book the florist early on- they're gonna be busy that day!!

Re: When is too early to start planning?
Based on what my banquet manager told me, i plan on booking my photographer in the next few weeks (since most book up quickly) and i already booked my dj. I'm gonna wait a few months to book anything else.

Re: When is too early to start planning?
I am not getting married until Jan of 2010 and I have already booked the photographer, videographer, and DJ. I had researched all of them and feel comfortable with my decision. The prices go up in 2 years and I wouldnt want to not be able to book a vendor that I wanted because I didnt want to book early. The dresses, limos, and flowers I feel can wait...

When I joined this site, I was a 2010 bride. You know what? It's never too early. Dates fill up super fast and in my opinion, it's best to have first pick!

If you have certain vendor(s) in mind that you know/heard book up fast you should check them out ASAP!

Thanks for the feedback...guess I should get started on booking the vendors! Anyone else leave this website more stressed than when they logged on?

Re: When is too early to start planning?
Like the other ladies said, its never too early.I am January 2010, some places I went were already booked!!! The photographer was already booked (thanks teri! haha!) but we still booked his other guys. One band we liked was booked.....so really its not too early.
Even the dress...it takes up to 9 months to come in and then you have at least 3 fittings.
But definitely book the RH and Photo ASAP.

Re: When is too early to start planning?
I agree. In fact, some of the halls i spoke with didnt have any 2009 dates left! And some were even booking 2011 believe it or not. I think there was only one place not booking for 2010 that i visited and that was the Woodbury CC.

Re: When is too early to start planning?
Someone already said this, but your date is a very popualar one being valentiens day. You may want to book early since its desired day.I booked 2/2008 for 1/9/2010.... I knew what I wanted and did not want to lose the date and time!
