Precana... still havent done it.. PLEASE HELP!!!

so im 94 days till my wedding and still NO PRE CANA!!!!!! i was called a few months back about dates jan and feb. that FH would have been unable to attend due to his police officer schedule and the host couple said they would contact the church for us to put our names back on the list.. well.. THEY NEVER DID!!!!! and i havent heard from the church in months.. they called sat re: something else so i took the oppertunity to ask about it and she said.. OH MY YOU HAVENT DONE IT YET... i dont think theres any more classes!!!! so i asked her to please call me or have the decon call me on monday.. and nothing... so im going to take it upon myself to call the dioceese (cant spell) and see if i can due it through that.. does anyone have any information re: how to go through the dioceese for pre cana? please tell me someone knows how to do this.. im getting very worried!

You can do pre-cana anywhere!!! Here is the link for the Archidocese of Rockville Centre. It lists upcoming pre-cana schedules at several churches. Just search for the marriage section.

Meg I suggest you get pre-cana through the diocese.

I got called from the pre cana couple about 2 months ago and I called them back and it took a MONTH for them to get back to me!!!!! YES a month nad then the woman was all b*tchy and told me that they dont start pre cana until May and if my Fh wasnt going to be home (bec he was in Iraq) I should really work around his schedule. UM HELLO @$$ wipe he WONT BE HOME! I didn't say it to her in those words haha but then I checked with the diocese and they didnt have anything while Fh is home these 2 weeks. So I am doing a private session with a couple I know who is certified to do pre-cana.

And well it took about 2 weeks to hear back from my deacon to see if we could do that. And now I have waited a week to hear back from the deacon who conducts FOCCUS. And I called him 3 times. So FH is going to the Parish Center today.

I really love St Joes- but I HATE the people who work there geez....My mom said she is going to tell the Pastor that she is upset that she pays all this money weekly going to church and they couldnt even help me with pre cana and I had to figure it all out on my own haha. my mom has a mouth on her should be interesting

You can sign up for the classes on your own at pre-cana.org. This is where my priest told me to register. It should not be a problem, but make sure that you do it asap because the classes have a max capacity.

Seriously this is exactly what happen to me... and the dumb @ss called to YELL at me.. and tell me that this paper was supposed to be dropped off months ago.. yet i was there and met witht he deacon 2 times since then and he has yet to ask me for it... so could it really be that important??? i will drop it off but when you ask people for things nicely you get them done.. the meaner you are the longer i wait.. ha ha ha

i went onto the DRVC webstie and theires only one date available before my wedding.. and FH is working all of those days and if any one you know the NYPD hes not getting off due to pre cana.. so i have no idea whats going to happen

actually FH just called me and he already went down to the parish center. Well he said first the ladies thought he was lying about doing a private session (because of course he is a guy and doesnt listen when i talk) because he didnt tell the woman in teh office the name of the couple who is doing it with us. He said well my fiance is taking care of that part. All he needs is the FOCCUS test and the certificate for our couple to sign. And the church said they dont have any of that and why didnt we call deacon barry. UM HELLO fh was pissed he was like I did call that deacon like 3 times already and decided to come down now. and then the women were like well you come down the day before you have it to get these papers...and fh said well he decided after he called the deacon 3 times and heard no response he should come back. they werent getting it that fh and i both called the deacon nad havent heard back from him.

they are slow in that office for real its annoying.

Friends of ours ended up doing their pre-cana in one day at the church with their priest because they planned their wedding really quick. If there are no classes (which I would imagine there is a weekend class between now and then that you could take) perhaps talk to your church and see if they could accomodate you with a private pre-cana session. Explain what happened to your deacon. I'm sure they will find some way to work with you. Don't stress it.
