High risk or not high risk?

Well where should i start as of 7/07 i found out that i was prego my Husband and I was so happy everything was doing good. my due date was 4/10/08 nice spring baby. on the morning of sept 24 i woke up to relize iwas bleeding called the dr and went into get a sono. that day we found out we no longer was going to have a spring baby. the next day i had surgery. my body didnt tell me that i lost the baby for over 3 weeks. well since then i found out that i had a gene issue and now have to take perscription folic acid. Now we have been ttc for over 5 months now and i am getting upset that it has not happened yet. i wanted to be prego before our orginal due date to ease the pain a little bit. Went to get info from the dr about my MTFHR gene and asked him if i would be high risk he told me no! DOES anybody have this gene and did they go to high risk???

Re: High risk or not high risk?

MTHFR is a genetic thrombophilia (over clotting of blood). The MTHFR gene interferes with the bodies ability to absord folic acid. Low folic acid can lead to NT defects in an unborn child and can make the mother prone to blood clots. It all depends on what type you have. I am compound hetero for MTHFR. That means I have 2 different defective genes. I had to take baby aspirin and do blood thinner injections to protect my baby when I was pregnant. I now have a 2 month old son. This should not keep you from having a baby. I have my son and my sister is hetero for the c-t gene of MTHFR and she is pregnant with her third child. Please fm me is you have any questions .
