Re: Taking our dance lesson tonight
i was frustrated, i assumed we'd learn the waltz for our dance and instead we were taught rhumba... latin dance... its not a latin number, its david bowie.... we didnt do well, now i dont know whether to go back to her and continue the rhumba or go somewhere else and see if they recommend different ballroom like the waltz.... ?????

Re: Taking our dance lesson tonight
We are actually learning fox trot for our first dance- supposedly its more versatile than the waltz and can be done to most songs.

We're doing a rumba...it goes with our song and they choreographed it to match our song.

It gets better as the lessons go on. The first few I hated and actually pulled some no-shows! You are supposed to feel silly and awkward, thats the beginners stage. And remember the classes go so fast so just try to make the most out of each session. Good luck and stick with it!

you'll get better when the steps come more naturally. We've been taking dance lessons since september and the first day we thought we'd quit because we ******. The rhumba can be an impressive dance when set to the right music, I don't think you're instructor would have recommended it if she didn't think the beat of your song went with the dance. However, if you're not happy, definitely try a different dance instructor or speak to the one you already have.
