Warning-FYI for all Honeymooners going to Sandals-St. Lucia-Pls. Read!!!!

Warning-FYI for all Honeymooners going to St. Lucia-Pls. Read!!!!

Hello to my Fellow Bridezillas,

I booked my honeymoon to St. Lucia thru Sandals.com and I was just informed today that my flights thru Air Jamaica were cancelled. Air Jamaica, apparently, just changed their flight routes last week and decided to stop flying to St. Lucia.

The worst part about all of this is, that if I had not called today to pay the balance of our honeymoon, and had not asked the reservationist to confirm my flights, I would've never known about my cancelled flights. We never received a call from Sandals or any correspondence informing us of this cancellation.

Luckily I was able to get on another direct flight but I had to pay more money and the reservationist was completely unsympathetic. She basically said Sandals is not responsible for flights booked thru them. To quote her, she said 'Sandals only offers flights as a courtesy. It is not our responsibility what happens with the flight'. I complained to Customer Relations about this issue, and they claimed to be calling all of their guests to inform them of this issue in a soonest check-in date order. Being that my honeymoon is in April, Lord only knows when they would've called me-probably when it was too late to get a direct flight.

Bottom line, if you have your honeymoon already booked thru Sandals and booked your flights with them as well, PLEASE call to confirm your flights!!!! Don't let their lack of communication ruin the most important trip of your life. If you have not booked your honeymoon yet, and plan on going to Sandals, book your flights separately. Even though there is a savings booking it together, you will at least have better communication from the airlines directly with any problems with your flights. Sandals is a beautiful resort to honeymoon at as I have seen many beautiful pictures and have heard rave reviews from family members & friends on their service. They just dropped the ball on this particular issue and I don’t want my fellow brides to be in a bad situation with the most important trip of your life. Good luck with the planning.

Sorry this happened to you.

Glad you were able to get new flights and a good tip to others who may also be affected and not even know.

STINKS so much how airlines can do whatever they want and really have no consequences.

My flights weren't canceled, but they were changed and now I have a LOOONNG layover instead of a short one. No reimbursement or anything from them.

Re: Warning-FYI for all Honeymooners going to Sandals-St. Lucia-Pls. Read!!!!

Sandals heavily relies on referrels to keep guests coming back or generate new business, so I would send them a complaint thru their website and keep telling them how upset you are. They will probably upgrade your room. That's what I'm doing.

My cousin had his room upgraded when he checked in and told them they were honeymooners. I was also told by a Sandals representative, that when I get my marriage license, to fax it to the hotel and to do an early check in, and they'll upgrade your room if space is available.

This isn't the first time I've heard of Air Jamaica making all these changes to the flights. Both Air Jamaica and Sandals should have contacted you!

Re: Warning-FYI for all Honeymooners going to Sandals-St. Lucia-Pls. Read!!!!

Thanks. I'm starting to regret not having gone thru a travel agent myself. Since I book travel arrangements thru the internet all the time, and Sandals is such a reputable company, I didn't think there would be an issue like this. Lesson learned.

I have also heard bad things about Air Jamaica. We are going to take American Airlines with a direct flight. Thank God you called them.....to find out last minute would have been a real nightmare.

Re: Warning-FYI for all Honeymooners going to Sandals-St. Lucia-Pls. Read!!!!

OMG FH just got the information on everything today- I gotta ask him to check it out when I get home today.. I am hoping that with 19 days before the wedding we don't have to pay anymore money than we have to. We booked through a Travel Agent (FH's Godmother) and she booked us on a non stop flights on Air Jamacia...

Re: Warning-FYI for all Honeymooners going to Sandals-St. Lucia-Pls. Read!!!!

You definitely need to call them. If you're on Air Jamaica, then your flights were definitely cancelled. The Sandals representative told me they just found out about it last week and are calling guests on the soonest-check-in-date order. Don't wait to be contacted. Call them with your confirmation number and they'll re-book you over the phone. You'll probably have to pay more money though

Good luck!

Grr I called FH and he doesn't want to believe me!
And he has all the paperwork at home with him atm.

I am going to call his godmother since she's our travel agent..why didn't Sandals call though - we're 20 days away from checking in!

Re: Warning-FYI for all Honeymooners going to Sandals-St. Lucia-Pls. Read!!!!

Just checked Air Jamaica's site and it looks like they have flights going into St. Lucia up until the end of March and that's it. If you look for flights in April or thereafter, there aren't any. It's up to you if you decide to keep your Air Jamaica flights but I would keep checking the status of the flights on a weekly basis. I would hate for you to be stuck without flights at the last minute.
