Advice for future brides ...
I hope this doesn't upset or offend anyone, but I just wanted to post this based on things that I have read on this site, and my experience ...When you're looking to hire a vendor, try to make sure you get at least some of your opinions from post-wedding brides. I see a lot of girls raving about their experiences with DJs, photographers, reception halls, etc ... prior to the wedding. The sales part is important, and it's great to know that the vendor is good to deal with, but what is most important is their delivery the day of. I've seen countless stories on this site about a 'fantastic' vendor, that has disappointed on the day of or afterwards.
Also keep in mind some negative reviews get pulled, and some brides are hesitant to post the full story because they don't want to deal with any trouble. So if you're comfortable, FM brides who have used your vendor.
Again, sorry if I sound preachy. I'm sure something like this has been posted before, but I just wanted to put this out there because I wish I followed this advice, and I see a good number of brides posting regrets.
Good luck with your planning!

Re: Advice for future brides ...
great advice - very much appreciated! you know, when you're meeting with the vendor and everything sounds wonderful it's hard to think that they might deliver anything BUT what they say they'll deliver. it's easy to get caught up in the sales pitch and be disappointed later on!

Re: Advice for future brides ...
I totally agree and also see people raving about things that I dont particularly like! For instance, I am picky about photographers and I see people raving about crappy ones (that I met with)....but whatever. Also I havent heard one person really complain about their CH after their wedding. Does everyone really have a perfect/seamless day????? I hope I do!

Re: Advice for future brides ...
I'm a future bride and I want to say that this is amazing advice.I would be lying if I were to say that I have no regrets about at least one of my choices.
I read a TON of RAVE reviews. Didn't see a single bad review, no one had anything negative to say at all...
as soon as i mentioned a tiny problem with the specific vendor i got a TON of FMs from brides who had used this vendor in the past warning me to get out of my contract if i could, i couldn't and let me tell you, i if i had ASKED before signing anything, i wouldn't be dealing with some of the headaches I have now.

I experienced this exact thing as well, and considered making this post a while ago as a result. I had a bad experience with a vendor day of, and the second my review went up I got several FMs about how other brides had problems with them. I don't blame those girls at all, I just wish I had contacted them prior to my wedding.
I also think it's a consequence of this site - we've all seen the reactions once someone has posted something negative about a vendor that girls have already booked. Some people don't want to hear something bad after they've already booked a vendor, and I think past brides have become more sensitive to that (and don't want to get flamed for writing something negative
)Good luck ladies! Even if you hear something negative about one of your vendors, look at it as a good thing because you can address it in advance.

Re: Advice for future brides ...
I absolutely didn't have smooth sailing the day of.I didn't post a review yet - so involved but I am thinking once I do it might get pulled about my honesty.
I am thinking I might find a creative way to alleviate my review from getting pulled and have all Brides FM me about my experience that I need to rant about to protect a future Bride.
When I spoke to my Wedding planner I asked her does every other Brides day go flawless and I am the only one? She laughed - ' Nothing is perfect the day of, it is all relative in how you allow it to effect you day of - Trust me'
She also told me most people will NOT know all the things that did or didn't happen , only you who is behind the scenes.
All of that is true speaking from experience.

Re: Advice for future brides ...
it makes complete sense. those people are like used car salesmen, they'll say anything to get you to book with them. it's only right to find out from people who have used them, not just booked them, to see how good/bad they are.

Re: Advice for future brides ...
Amen to that!
As long as you post FACTS in your review is shouldnt get pulled. I didnt have perfect vendors-actually I had an issue or two with some of my vendors-my reveiw is still up and I havent been asked to edit it. Its all in the deliverance!
And if a bride-who is married-gives you advice or something that they noticed about their wedding-listen to it and take something away from it.
Your day will NOT be perfect, something will happen-whether or not you know about it is another story. Someone will complain about your wedding-someone will not like the food-someone will hate your hall-someone will not like what you did...ignore it.
Its your day, you make the attempt to satisfy everyone but there will always be someone who you just will never make happy. Dont take it personally and dont let it bother you.
