MAJOR INVITE QUESTION!! NEED HELP

so we are putting together the invites tonight as some of you may know b/c i posted yesterday about it. i didnt even think to include directions to the church, so i am scrambling around today to try and figure out the directions b/c my church does not have a web site so i cant just copy & paste directions from there!!

my issue is that i have NO idea where everyone is coming from (this is more for FH's family friends than mine) so i dont really know how to do the directions. my first thought is to give directions from the LIE & southern state since those are the most convienent to get to the church. can ANYONE help me out here?? i feel like my directions SUUCK and i dont know if i should do a million different versions like from the east and west via southern state & from the east & west of LIE or should i just give general directions with the exit #'s etc....

I would do a mapquest directions from lets say Queens or Brooklyn and put the general directions once on the LIE (so thats directions coming from the west), do the same for directions coming from the east.

Where are most of them coming from east or west? I would go with where the majority of the people are coming from

yea...make sure you include directions from both east and west....if there is an alternate route opposed to the lie that is more convienent.....put that too, in addtiion to the lie....bc LIE is the default route anywhere

i know - i thought that too - the majority of ppl that are going to need directions are flying in from all over so i have no idea where they are staying... we didnt block off rooms or anything

aww i wish i could help I am in the same boat as you with there being no website- i also tried yahoo directons etc. to try and generalize and it is too confusing- there has to be another way

On Google Maps you can drag the route if you want it to go on certain roads---so you do the directions, and then if you want to go from the LIE just click and drag the route line over to the LIE--it should pop over and give you directions from there....

I started my directions at the LIE - since most people know how to get to the LIE (from queens, brooklyn etc)

I would just state the directions from western LI and then people coming from the east will figure it out. Most people probably just mapquest it themselves from their house - or use their GPS

i would just give basic directions for the LIE ...Since everyone knows how to reach the LIE from there Home.

Be careful though. I stopped using Google Maps because it doesn't give you Exit #s. I ende up being more confused in the end.

I use map quest usually, but you're right, whenever you're doing directions from Queens (the Triboro Bridge) to LI they always want you to take the Van Wyck to the Belt.....so annoying.

Oh and that's never a good move...ALWAYS traffic. I work in WEstchster and lived in Rockaway..the commute was torture.

your only responsibilty is to give general directions. Trust me, people will figure it out!
