Closed Toe Wedding Shoes For June Wedding?

Hello Ladies
An '08er in need of some help.
My wedding is June 28th, and all along I had planned on an opened toed sandal wedding shoe....until i went to lunch with a girl the other day who got married in August and said she wore closed toed shoes. The reason for this she said was that it looked more formal with her wedding dress and that when you walked she didnt think it looked good to see your foot popping out of a dress. I didnt even think of that...Now im all sorts of confused. Any ideas/opinions? Thanks ladies!

Re: Closed Toe Wedding Shoes For June Wedding?

hmmm...i've never thought of a foot peeking out as less formal...haha...there are many girls with shots of their feet in sandals & i think it looks great...especially for a summer wedding...here's my naked foot sticking out...although i will admit my shoes are less formal, this is actually one of my favorite shots...hopefully some other girls will add pics to help you decide!

Re: Closed Toe Wedding Shoes For June Wedding?

I think its more traditional to wear closed toe shoes, although personally I think it is a matter of taste.
My mom who works at a bridal salon, strongly urged me to wear closed toe shoes (if you know what I mean). She said they created more of a 'clean look'.
Honestly, get what you think looks good. Sometimes I think I should have worn open toes, but I did feel more safe and 'snug' in my closed toes...
Good luck!

Re: Closed Toe Wedding Shoes For June Wedding?

I don't think it matters. It depends on what you're most comfortable in. i found really comfortable closed toe shoes that I liked, and I wore them in July for my wedding and it was fine. Open toe are lovely too.

Re: Closed Toe Wedding Shoes For June Wedding?

The truth of the matter is that no one really notices your shoes, yes you will see your toes a little bit, yes you can see if someone is wearing closed toe shoes...but either way you need to be comfortable. i dont like closed toe shoes, I like them on everyone but me, so I was not comfortable in closed toe shoes.

Dont make yourself crazy about whether its elegant or not-Get something that you like and that goes with your dress.

ITA !!!

I didn't want to wear pantyhose because it's hot enough under the dress and open toes just worked best for me !

Re: Closed Toe Wedding Shoes For June Wedding?

It's your very special day, wear what kind of shoes you want to wear. I wore an open toe shoe with white stockings because that is what I wanted and I love how it looked with my bridal gown. It's your special day, you get to decide what shoes you would like to wear for that day.

Wear the shoes you wanna wear. I wore open toed shoes and thought they looked fine, but if you are more comfortable in closed toe shoes - go for it!!

JMO...I would not wear closed toe shoes in the summer...that is just not me...and I personally have never considered them to be less formal...but you should do what makes you feel most comfortable

Re: Closed Toe Wedding Shoes For June Wedding?

Totally doesn't matter... I got married in Nov and wore open toe shoes... it's totally what you feel comfortable in and you feel looks good- no one will notice them at all!! I didn't even wear them the whole reception- took them off after the father/daughter dance... so yeah, just go with your gut feeling- doesn't matter either way
