Baby Fever
Okay, I am getting bad baby fever! My wedding is in September and I will be TTC right after! My question is, what should I be doing the few months before to prepare. When should I go off the pill, but not so soon that I get pregnant before the wedding??Thanks in advance

Re: Baby Fever
Make sure you are taking Folic Acid. It is proven to help with the fetus nervous system when in the mother's system. Also, speak with your doctor about coming off your pill. My suggest is to wait until you come home from your HM. You don't want to risk messing up your cycle and getting your 'friend' during the wedding/HM. But that decision it totally up to you and your doctor.

Re: Baby Fever
I agree 100% with Michele. My ob/gyn told me the same thing. After being on the pill 8+ years, there's no way to tell how my body will react. If I come off before the wedding and have an irregular cycle, I may have my 'friend' with us on the HM. He suggested I come off right after the wedding, and give myself 4-6 months for my body to readjust. Also - my last visit (which was a full year before the wedding), he suggested I go on a multi-vitamin with Folic Acid.
Best of Luck!!!

Re: Baby Fever
I started taking a OTC prenatal as soon as we started to TTC. I also switched to decaf coffee, and decreased alcohol consumption
I also made some general changes in my diet to make sure that I got enough nutrition.Another thing I highy recommend is to get into some sort of fitness routine (if you don't already have one). I really regret not being in shape before I got pregnant, b/c I became so sick and tired all the time in the 1st trimester that I wasn't excercising, and now I can really feel it in my joints and muscles. There's not doubt about it giving birth is like running in a marathon, so excersice now will benefit you so much during pregnancy, labor and delivery, and getting back into shape after the baby is born.

Re: Baby Fever
My doc also put me on prenatal vitamins the minute she heard we were getting married and wanting to ttc soon. The only question I have is how long do you have to be off of the pill before ttc? Is it unsafe to get pregnant within 2 months of being off of the pill? Anyone know?

Re: Baby Fever
As far as I know, it's not unsafe to get pg after you stop the pill, and actually many women get pg the month after they are off. But, for some women who are actively ttc, their cycles might not be regular for a while, and that's why it can be difficult.

Re: Baby Fever
Nina thanks for the info. I heard some weird thing that if you get pregnant too soon that the pill effects the formation of the baby. But that was also during one of those horror sessions when everyone shares their terrible experience with pregnancy etc. so I tend to agree with you that there should not be a problem. I was just checking to see what everyone else thought. I think you are right and what I heard was just some weird story. Thanks.

Re: Baby Fever
abcwhen i went for my pre conception appoint--my doc said there is no medical truth to that-- I thought the same thing--that the pill had to be out of my system for 3 months-- she said there is no reason why my body has to get back on track--and that we can start trying right away=--and I know numerous people who got pregnant that first month coming off the pill!!!! So it really depends on what your dr says--

Re: Baby Fever
My friend told me that the reason the doctors tell people to be off the pill for a month or so before TTC is so they can better judge your due date if you get pregnant. I don't know if that makes any sense.

Re: Baby Fever
That makes sense about the due date, but they can also tell from a sonogram, no?
