Opinion needed on favors...

My wedding is at the end of August and for the favors I was thinking about giving out candied apples to each guest wrapped in cellophane with ribbon. I'm also thinking about making them myself (200+ guests). Is this a good idea, do-able, or will this be a major undertaking and a disaster in the making since I would probably make them a few days before the wedding?
Edit to say: FH thinks this is not a good idea!

I do think it is a sweet (hahahaha candies apples...sweet sorry) anyway I do think it is a cute idea! However, man that is a lot of apples and a lot of stress on top of everything else to do just a few days before.

I think its a great idea and a yummy one...very differnt, but thats a lot of apples and a lot of time consumming project where you should use that time to be relaxed and pampering yourself as you prepare for the big day.

I agree with the girls above, I think it will be very time consuming to make that many and just a few days before the wedding. Perhaps you can check into a candy store making them for you for a bit more $$?

I agree that it's a very cute idea, but very time consuming. It may get stressful for you to do this a few days before the wedding. I would look into purchasing them. Maybe a bulk store like BJ's would have them.

hmmm - it will be time consuming, and you'll have to think about all the other last minute things right before the day that you may not even be aware of yet.

Not sure about this, but will candied apples be affected by the summer heat at all? If they'll start to melt or get sticky, you may want to think about something a little easier.

I think it is an awesome idea, I think you should look in to ordering them tho, it could be a bit much for you to do on your own. She also used them as place cards

Definitely agree with everyone else - the last thing you want to be doing 3 days before your wedding is dipping apples. Candy shops probably do them. Good point also about the heat in August!

I made my own favors and it was a little stressful!! They do have to be done the week before and dropped off at your hall. I really think that is alot of work to be undertaking right at crunch time. I LOVE the idea though! In fact I'll take a candy apple please I would see about getting in done elsewear!

The young lady's whose pix, I shared with you, I sent her a note asking her about cost and who did them. Hopefully she will give me a response and I will be able to tell you more. All hope is not lost yet
