Mother of Bride and/or Groom dresses

Where did everyones mothers and mother in law to be get there dresses?

I want to take my mother in law to be shopping, but wanted some idea from you ladies first.

I dont want her to spend a fortune either
so if you know any great places, espeically with great prices please post

My mother got her dress in Lord & Taylors. She spent about $200 plus alterations at a local dry cleaners.

My MIL got hers in Estelles on Rt 110 - I have know idea what she spent, but it probably wasn't too much, the dresses there were not too expensive. But they have a huge selection.

We looked at a couple of the MOB dresses in the salons and I couldn't let her buy a $600 dress - I would feel too quilty

My Mom got her dress at the Bethpage Bridal Garden. They are super nice there and her dress was beautiful and cost around $250. They have many nice and affordable dresses.

Valentinas in Brooklyn has a lot of MOB gowns in a range of prices - my mom saw a gown she liked there for $200

My mother is also looking for dresses and does not want to spend a lot of money since she won't be wearing the dress again and is helping with the costs of my wedding (she is also a single mother). She wants to look at JC Penny's and a woman I work with bought her dresses at Loehman's for her daughter's and son's weddings.

My mom got her dress from Saks Fifth Avenue. For my sister's wedding she went to a specialized store for mother dresses....I forgot the name of it, but it is located across the street from Leonards Catering Hall on Northern Blvd.

I keep on hearing good things about Estelle's. We are going there tomorrow! Only 2.5 months left till the wedding, cutting it close here!

Try Totally You in Bellmore. My mom went there once and was happy with the service. I think she may end up going back and buying her dress there.

We looked at Estelle's for my mom and saw a nice one for $350 and then to Sugarplum and saw a nicer one for $675. We may go with the one at Sugarplum.

my mother got hers at Macys...it was the first dress she saw and bought it thinking she'd wind up returning it after she found something else. After all the salons and boutiques we looked in, she still loved the first one, and it cost under $200. She felt a lot of the salon dresses were too old and matronly.

Try Cathy's Bridal in Lindenhurst, Bridal Garden in Bethpage and Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. BR will be more on the expensive side, but they have a good amount on sale as well.

We got my mom's, My Fi's Mom's and my sister's (who is the MOH) dresses at Estelle's over this week-end! They are gorgeous and the most expensive one was $160. They have a huge selection for every taste: from flashy sparkly numbers to very classy evening suites and evening gowns! Also, they have a whole lot of great bridesmaid dresses!
