Any Cat People?

I have three cats. I'm pretty sure that makes me one of those crazy ladies with really long hair that I never cut, but I try and justify it by saying that 2 of my cats are from the same litter, so its really like I only have 2 1/2 cats. Anyway, I digress.

I swear my cats must go into the litter box, take out little pawfulls of litter, and deposit it in various places throughout the apartment. I find litter in places that are nowhere NEAR the litter box! Does anyone else have this problem and is there anyway to prevent it?

Re: Any Cat People?

no but seriously... it gets in their paw pads.... u can try to be soo clean but if you get their paw and open up her 'finders' there is tons of litter in them...

they they stretch or clean and there you ahve it .. piles of litter

unless u put on booties.. idotn see a way to really prevent it.

Re: Any Cat People?

that is interesting. I find litter just around the box b/c Ollie thinks it cute to roll around in it and throw it out of the box.

oh, see passion party post below!

oh no, perish the thought. I have a kitty. her name is kitty I tried, but i can't get a name to stick. She is crazy and i've had her since labor day (courtesy of another LIW bride) but she is soooo cute and lovey. she kicks litter all over the place too though, and has stinky breath and a stinky butt. any way to prevent this??

with the litter, target has those mats that they step on after coming out of the litter box that's supposed to trap it so they don't track it everywhere. it's worth a shot.

Re: Any Cat People?

I dont have any cats... but the secretary on my floor does. She comes by and shows me the pics of the her cats.

She takes pictures of them and then photoshops them with like a beach background. For halloween, she photoshopped the 3 cats riding a broom with witch hats on...

that is a crazy cat lady.

Re: Any Cat People?

Hm I have to look into the matts. One of my kittens has LONG hair, so she gets smelly if she decides to sleep under the bed. Mima is anal and she cleans herself ALL the time, so I know she's not even the issue, its the dirty kittens!!

in my old apt i used to find litter everyplace, even with the mat. now in FH's place, the litter stays in her bathroom, or right out the door of her bathroom (yes, she has her own bathroom - it's also the guest bathroom, we're very gracious hosts!) the mat does help alot though, i dust bust that thing every day because of all the litter in there, but i think she aims to kick the litter further out than the mat.

i am perplexed by my stinky cat. I'm so used to them being non-smelly. she is always cleaning herself too.

Re: Any Cat People?

I know the feeling. It happens occasionally to me too. I have 2 cats. I put a little rug under the litter box so when they step out majority just goes there.

I thought people thought I was a crazy lady too for having 2 cats...lol... you got me beat!!

Well first I just had Mima, but she HATES FH so I felt bad and I wanted to get a cat that liked him also, so I got Lily. Then all of the cats in the litter were taken except one! So I took her too. Aw poor Claudette! She turned out to be the most beautiful cat with long hair, and she's so so sweet.

Re: Any Cat People?

I bought that mat that goes by the litter box and my cat hated it so she started just jumping over it, so it was pointless and I got rid of it. She doesn't track litter all over the apt., but she does create a lovely ring of it around the box. It just become part of my morning routing to sweep it up around the box.

ditto, layla likes to roll around in there ... she has a habit of going in head first and she kicks the litter out the front BUT we bought one of those matts that helps to take the litter out of their paws when they get out of the box...

think of it as a front door matt to wipe your feet!

Re: Any Cat People?

i use one of those winter boot mats. it's plastic, with an inch border. i also use yesterday's news which is made of recyled newspaper....much less litter everywhere and it doesn't get caught in Naboo's paws.

I use Yesterday's News too. We tried every litter and it was the only one that didn't make Ruby sneeze. And yes, much less messy.
