Dress drama - please help! xpost

::deep breath::
So I went for what is supposed to be a final fitting with my dress and it was relatively awful. They kept saying that I should put straps on my strapless dress because there is no way that they could fit it around my ribs to hold up the dress. They told me it was essentially my fault that the hem was too long because they pinned it last week and it was fine.

They told me my bra was all wrong for like 2 hours when last week it was 'perfect'. I put on a second bra... same exact style, different size, and the one they said was awful the previous week, and somehow it was perfect this week. I tried to explain that i couldnt have my bra peeking out from the sides because it would be kinda hard to photoshop it out of every single picture... still my fault.

I was there for 3 hours as I waited to look a in a mirror because someone's child was playing around in front of one mirror while someones MOB stood on the lil platform complaining.

I am rambling, I know, but I am on the brink right now as my bm suggested i take it someplace else (10 days before the wedding) and I am just really defeated.

any advice or words of wisdom for a bride who will potentially spending her wedding day with her hands in her armpits pulling up her ill fitting dress???

Re: Dress drama - please help! xpost

thanks.... I am starting to feel bridezilla-ish and that I am being too demanding, but I've seen strapless dresses on similar body types and it just seems to fit better.

any rec's for good last minute seamstresses? if someone has a good person I will totally bake you delicious cookies.

Re: Dress drama - please help! xpost

I know how you feel. I was on the same boat with my dress but it was David's Bridals fault. They didn't bother to tell me that the bustle didn't come with the dress. Meanwhile I tried a sample on with a bustle and the girl was showing me how it looked all up and how to put it down. And I was sold. So I ordered it. I picked it up a week before my wedding and found no bustle. I was told it was extra and I yelled at the manager saying you should not have girls try on dresses with the bustle on it already. That is false misleading advertising. I started panicking because now I didn't have a way to put the dress up in the back. Well I came to NY, my mom and I went to alterations with the dress and told them to put the bustle on. They said it will be 2 weeks. My mom was fuming at this point and a nice lady there told me to come to her house the next day and she will put it on. This was 4 days before the wedding. She said it only takes a 1/2 hour and charged me a low fee. Don't know why they take 2 weeks for a 1/2 hour job. It is ridiculous. I was very grateful that she stepped in or I would have not known what to do.

I would take your dress elsewhere to get an opinion. It sounds like they don't know what they are doing and are rude. They shouldn't blame you for their slips ups and errors. I am really sorry you are going through this but I guarantee there is someone out there that can help you like someone helped me.

thanks for the vote of confidence... I definitely think that I will let this place finish their alterations on monday and go for a 'second opinion' even if it gives me a peace of mind that everything has been done that needs to be done

Vicky! It's Dana, Nancy's friend!
I have a seamstress for you, she's amazing. Moda Alterations in Franklin Square. She actually altered my dress for Nancy's wedding after Weddling Plaza messed it up beyond comprehension!!!

I had the same issues. They were blaming me, my bra and in the end it still didn't fit right. You still have time. Get them to redo it!! They were supposed to put boning in my dress to help it, but it never happened.

They also suggested body tape. They said 'That's how it supposed to be'. Wel my Ta tas weretailly exposed in some pics and after paying 200.00 in alterations, I was annoyed!!!

Sorry Hun!!!

Was this Burtons????????/

Re: Dress drama - please help! xpost

OMG, Honey take it somewhere else!!! Right now. Don't do what I did. My wedding is on Friday and I wasn't happy with my dress. The bridal salon refused to fix it saying 'it was fine' FINE??? I didn't pay close to $2000.00 for a dress that is just fine. Anyway, I brought it to a private seamstress and she was shocked by the poor workmanship. She is going to try and work miracles for me. Bless her. So I am picking my dress up, however it turns out, the day before my wedding. I am so stress! So please, save yourself the trouble and take it somewhere else NOW!

I highly recommend Gina at Alterations Unlimited in Deer Park. She's a little on the pricey side, but seriously knows her stuff.
I've gone to her for things for the past 10 years
