Question for current/past Fox Hollo Brides....

I'm trying to get the Sunday night before Labor Day 2010, but they want $95/pp which I an't afford... I don't think I can afford more than $80.

Unfortunately a wedding Mon - Thurs isn't an option for me.

Did you bargain them down for a lower price? If so about how much did they go?
Or can you give tips on how to bargain... I"m not very good at it

I have the same problem so I brought my mom with me to talk them down because I know she's a go getter and knows how to bargain. I'm obviously not in the same time of year as you so I was able to get a lower quote, but I would suggest that you take someone with you who's strong minded and who isn't afraid to say what they feel (mom, dad, FH?) and have them deal with it for you. Let that person say, "Listen, I'm the one paying for this and this is what I can afford, is there anything you can do?" They were willing to work with us and it's worth a shot because think about it, if they say no- you're not losing anything... if they say yes- great! HTH!

We're also going to re-negotiate some things on Saturday too. Our price is pretty reasonable, but the whole contract thing was so overwhelming I want to go over a couple of things.

it's all about the MONTH, not day of the week.

January/February & March.

November/December - I BELIEVE these are all 'off months'....go for them for the best price.

I'm going to go back and find out the prices for the off months... maybe I can work something out.

I didn't want a winter wedding but maybe because of financial reasons it's out of my hands. I don't think I'll mind too much... just I HATE cold weather :(

March is a no go for me, it's Lent and I want a Friday wedding... I don't want my guests have to worry about whether or not they can eat meat.

We are, in fact, going to check the November and January prices. My only issue is I have a couple of guests in wheelchairs (like 6 or so) and I don't want bad weather to get in the way.

I know it's silly to worry about weather in 2008 for a 2010 wedding, but it's more specific than that... I don't want the threat of bad weather because I want all my guests to be able to enjoy my day.

Additionally, I want to lower my minimum so I think FH will be more receptive to that during an off month.

there's no way to predict the weather in january - but the past few have been VERY mild. Yes - it was COLD on our day (and we were VERY happy about that)....but i think if you checked the averages, February and March have been much more harsh weather wise...

That's true. I was quoted 65pp for March and they threw some things in. I wanted a summer wedding but ended up doing March because of the big price difference but regardless of when your wedding is, it's going to be beautiful! Don't stress about it- if you're willing to sway a little- you'll get an awesome deal.

If you are willing to compromise on the date you can get a great rate in the winter. My wedding is in January and we got a great price for a Saturday night. We are in the Garden Terrace room though, so I don't know if they give you more of a break if you have a higher minimum? FM me if you want details.

I've been looking at lots of photography websites for about three weeks now... to be honest they all looked the same to me.

Then I saw the pics in your LIW album... and I'm going to be booking an appointment with 12th Night in a hot minute. Those are beautiful. I love the outside shots most of all.

You have all but sold me on a January wedding! Cross your fingers for me

HMM. i wonder if they will be up for mine then. I am just after that two week mark. I will have to call and ask. It doesn't matter either way to me but I think it will be pretty.

They take the Xmas lights down after Little Christmas. That's part of the reason why I decided to have my wedding on January 3rd. I have a feeling that I won't be taking alot of outdoor pics and the Fox Hollow is so gorgeous on the inside all decorated for Xmas. I wanted a December wedding but they wanted $30 more pp in December than in January.

I applaud you for having the secret wedding.

It is totally great how the two of you stayed grounded and remembered exactly WHY you are doing this - to MARRY EACH OTHER! NO pomp and circumstance needed. Just the true focus of it all - marrying him!

Love love love it! Even happier for you!

Plus the addition of Degrassi is such a sweet idea! LMAO I loved Snake (still do - I watch the new ones also!)

If you were to meet Jess and Dave, you would know how truly grounded they are. She is no-nonsense, this is how it is - and that is how their relationship is. They are so kind to each other, even when one happens to pierce the other one's eardrum with a lollipop stick. (Matt would have never spoken to me again, seriously.) I am honored to call them friends, even though I do not see them often.

He'd probably speak to YOU again because he's like that with people he doesn't know too well. Even if it hurt more than he could say, he would tell you it doesn't bother him at all. But me? I get embarrassed thinking of the words that would come out of his mouth..

Seriously ... he once threatened not to go to a friends' for dinner over something dumb - we were bickering about something, no idea what. But I was drying my hair and yes, I hate to admit it, but I took the hair dryer and placed it against his arm. I was realllllly mad, and I am embarrassed to admit I did it. He was really mad at me for like 30 mins. but now we laugh about it. Well, I do, and he does behind the closed pursed mouth.

And then there was the time I was supposed to just clean up the back of his hair with the clipper that was on #1 (as in, it would shave off all the hair?) -- he buzzes his head himself and hands it to me when he wants me to go over it one more time on #3 and then puts it on 1 to just make a nice line at the bottom and clean up the fuzzies you know? Well he didn't tell me it was on #1. He had a nice thick line of NO HAIR up the back of his head, and we had a plane to catch in 2 hours. We had to stop at Supercuts on the way to the airport. They fixed it. We do both laugh about that one - but it didn't hurt him.
