Ew...is this rude? Vendor Rant....

ok so I had a situation where I have to cancel a vendor I booked a few months ago bc I found some1 better for me and FH. Soooo I wrote a very polite email saying that I unfortunately have to cancel their services, that I was sorry for any inconvenience, that i understand the deposit is non-refundable and was asking if there is anything else I need to do to finalize this decision. (someting with a signature, etc.)
Sooo the vendor writes me back a ONE word response that says: 'why?'
Is it just me or is this really rude?? No greeting, no respopnse to my question about how to finalize the decision.
I dont think I have to explain myself to him...what do u think?? I am giving him over 9 months to fill my date which is very popular so im sure he will have no problem. Plus he is a very popular vendor on here so im sure he will book some1 for that day....err some people just really annoy me

Re: Ew...is this rude? Vendor Rant....

That is VERY rude and weird. Who cares why you cancelled, it is your choice and they should not be lloking for a reason why. I would e-mail them back and say 'again, I am sorry for any inconvenience, please tell me what I need to do to finalize the cancelling of your services'
Good luck and I am so curious who this vendor is

I still think you should call them. There might be something you have to sign? so that it covers your own butt if they try to pull anything with you.....jmo

Re: Ew...is this rude? Vendor Rant....

i think you did the right thing, unless it's your RH. lol otherwise i'm sure they can rebook and if they don't well they have your deposit. paid for nothing, wish i had that arrangement. honestly the vendor should be suck a jerk and reply with i appreciate you letting me know in advance blah blah blah.

the way you handled it is perfectly fine!

Yea im going to have to call now but now im nervous hes gonna have an attitude lol...yea in the email I said that I could fax him over a copy of the contract or an official letter to cancel to make sure I have some documentation!! I could see him being rude if it was 6 months of less until the wedding, but cmon...he still gets my $700 for nothing!!

Re: Ew...is this rude? Vendor Rant....

yes that is rude, if you wanted to tell them why you would have explained that in your first e-mail. Very unprofessinal that they did not answer your question

Re: Ew...is this rude? Vendor Rant....

It's none of his business - if you don't want to deal with him via email again I would send a letter terminating the contract (just google contract termination letter or something) and send it certified mail.

Re: Ew...is this rude? Vendor Rant....

Yeah that was rude. Seems like some vendors can really act like babies when someone cancels on them. When it comes to someones wedding, they should be allowed to change their frickin minds. ESPECIALLY if they get to keep 700 bucks for doing nothing. Let us know how the phone call goes and FM me who it was, Im NOSY!!!

Re: Ew...is this rude? Vendor Rant....

ok i know who it is i am like nancy drew with a great memory.

anyway it IS rude *BUT unfortunately i think you need to cover your behind and make sure you dont end up owing the entire amount of the contract SO i think like a PP mentioned just write back asking if there is anything you need to do to finalize the cancellation. If you STILL do not get a satisfactory answer just fax over an official letter.

Make sure you keep PRINTED copies of all the emails and the fax

good luck!
