Save The Dates?
How far in advance is everyone sending out Save the Date announcements? Do you send them to EVERYONE invited or just people who are out of town, you don't see alot, etc... Also, what is everyone using. I saw photo magnets which were pretty cute.

Re: Save The Dates?
I never heard of Save the Dates until I got one for my FI's niece's wedding which is this coming Saturday. I've seen a lot of examples on Wedding Channel that I like. I think if I can figure it out I'd like to do the magnet. I think I can do it on my computer using business cards and magnet sheets. I'll probably send them out by April for a January wedding.

Re: Save The Dates?
I am sending mine out this week for my March 29th wedding. We decided only to send them to the bridal party, closest family and people who will likely be staying overnight in the hotel. It turned out to be 60 STDs - about half the number of invitations. Here they are. I copied this design from savethedatecard.com but used a cranberry red solid ribbon with same color print. I bought the cards and envelopes at Lincoln Stationers. They are the Crane's printable line. It was alot of work but I love the way they came out.

I will be sending out photo magnets with our Christmas cards. We're getting married July 4th, so that's about 7 months in advance.

Re: Save The Dates?
Hey daniI sent my STD 6 months ahead for my christmas wedding. I don't think I would have sent them though, if I wasn't getting married at a high travel/party time. Anyway, I sent them to all travelling guests, immediate friends & fam, & anyone who we hadn't spoken to in a while who might not have known about the wedding. My STD list was also about 1/2 of the wedding list.
Mine were pretty formal, but I love the magnet idea. Especially ones that go into a Christmas card! Perfect!

Re: Save The Dates?
My wedding is in 10/03 & I will be sending out my Save The Dates (along with hotel info) in early January to all family & out of towners. The guests who aren't getting them are my co-workers(who make up about a third of my guestlist) & close friends (most of them know the date since my wedding seems to be all I can talk about). At first I was going to only do out of towners, but it is easy to offend someone if you don't send them(out of town aunt speaks to in town uncle & mentions Save The Date Card, in town uncle assumes they are not invited to wedding, & world war three breaks out, at least that how my family works). Now January may seem early, but personally my job requires all vacation requests for the year by the end of January, so some guests may need ample time to plan a trip to NY. But I do have a lot of out of towners so I guess its a personal choice.

Almost forgot, I'm going with magnets from the favorlady. Check out her website www.favorlady.com. One of the most affordable options out there!

Thanks for all the input! I like the idea of putting them in w/ Christmas cards but that's a whole 9 months before our wedding.

We sent STD out in dec for our july wedding...with a magnet and a card that matched the invites..we also included a small insert that said happy holidays and our wedding website address
we only sent to people we were CERTAIN we would invite...ie I only sent to one friend at work, b/c I wasn't certain who I would invite from work...even though I ended up inviting 12+dates!!

Re: Save The Dates?
Hi Danielle -I was thinking of sending mine with my Xmas cards - and we're not getting married until 10/25/03. I just thought that the Xmas cards were the most convenient way to send them. I would feel awkward just sending them on their own - I figure the Xmas card is a good excuse. I want to do magnets, so I figure they'll be on people's refrigerators for 10 months, but oh well
