Cancer Fundraiser

I recently posted what I am going through with my mother in law on the 07' board. After speaking with other people, Ifound out that I could hold a fund raiser to help benefit cancer patients.

I wanted to know if anyone has any ideas.

this is my situation with my mother in law, but I want to help a lot of people with cancer.

My soon to be mother in law is battling terminal lung cancer. She was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer that has spread. Immediately after beginning treatment (chemotherapy), she had a seizure, fell and lost her four front teeth. She is 45 years old and a wonderful woman. She looks in the mirror and sees that she has no hair and teeth, and she remembers that she is dying. She is at a point now where she is giving up completely due to her appearance. It is not that she is being vain- it is just a reminder that she is fighting a battle she cannot win. She cries herself to sleep every night and as her soon to be daughter in law, it is killing me. Her son and I are getting married in November and we have little money to help her. I am a full-time college student (22 years old) and my fh is an electrical apprentice. We have helped her as much as we possibly could.

Having her teeth replaced is cosmetic and therefore not something an insurance company will cover. As her children, we are trying to save up the money to have her teeth replaced but we're young and struggling ourselves. Having her hair would make everything she is going through a lot easier, emotionally and physically. I need to find a way to make her feel confident and strong again.

My mother in law lost her entire family by the time she was 17. She burried her mother, father, and two brothers-- her other 2 sisters were given up for adoption and she was sent to live with her aunt. This aunt recently passed away due to lung cancer-the same type she is fighting. She has always been a caring, selfless woman. She has always taken away from herself to give to her children, husband and anyone else that needed her.

She lived in a 3 room broken down apartment her entire life. After her daughter got married, she moved into a nice house that her daughter rents. She decided to quit smoking when her first grandchild was born. It looked like her life was about to pick up- but she was diagnosed with lung cancer shortly after. This happened relatively soon after her aunt who raised her died of lung cancer.

She is an amazing, self-less woman. A few years ago, her father in law was dying of cancer. She completely nursed him, fed him and was by his side..this was on top of working as a waitress at night and caring for two children. He died in her arms. Please help me find a way to help her. This is truly her dying wish. She cannot go on and enjoy the rest of her days because seeing herself without hair and teeth is a constant reminder that she is dying.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
