Would you have your wedding the day after Thanksgiving?

I was thinking of having the wedding that Friday after Thanksgiving....if anyone has suggestions or rates please FM me.

i'm pretty sure rates would be great that weekend.
I suggest checking out the Fox Hollow because they have a great feel for that type of year. Formal yet cozy.

My only concern would be that eveyrone would already have plans, and i'd hate to 'screw up' people's family plans for that weekend.
but I also don't think my family would have appreciated a STD magnet with my picture on it, so diff families work differently.

you should FM ShortyMcBride--her wedding is this year, the day after turkey day, at Fox Hollow (i think its FH). she is one of the most frugal brides you will ever meet, so i'm sure she must have gotten a good rate.

i would go to a wedding on that day--simply because the day after thanksgiving, you have nothing much to do, and everyone is still in town for the holiday the previous day.

A friend of mine did this and it worked out so well for her family. Her husband and her were from towns not that far apart and they had the wedding pretty close by. She had a ton of family coming over from Ireland, and from other parts of the states, who would have traveled anyway for thanksgiving. Since they were already there, they did not need to pay for 2 trips. His family also usually went to his parents house, so for them to go to the wedding close by was very convenient.

She said everyone was thrilled with the idea.

i answered on the 07 board but i just wanted to add something...
the rates were the same as the general rates for the season (Oct - March) and this was at all the places we looked at CLM, SandCastle, Floral Terrace, Milleridge, and Russos
BUT if you are looking for a deal some places did offer the day BEFORE thanksgiving (wednesday night) for next to nothing

My sister had hers the night before Thanksgiving and it worked out really well cause nobody had work the next day and everyone from out of town didn't have to worry. And she got a really good rate!!

my best friend did this - November 25 will be their 2 year anniversary
it was great!!
most people were off that day, and it gave people something fun to do on 'Black Friday'

i think it should be fine, as long as you send out STD's and everyone is aware they should be able to schedule accordingly. You may have a few that will not be able to make it, like OTG, since flights might be expensive

we had our eparty the day after and it wasnt a problem. there were some family memebers and friends who couldnt make it though. Some flew to see family or had family visiting them. But we didnt give people as much notice for our eparty as we will for the wedding.

Thanks everyone, I never thought of having it the night before Thanksgiving. I know our families wouldn't mind but all the other guest......then again if they still like going out Thanksgiving Eve well here they go,LOL. Thanks for the idea!

Sure why not!!!! I was in a wedding 3 years ago the saturday after thanksgiving and it was so great! More people were able to come I think because they had the weekend off.
Also dont feel like you have to make it fall themed. The wedding I was in was at Atlantis Marine in Riverhead. It was a great wedding!

ours is the day before thanksgiving....we checked with our families (we have super huge fams)before def going with the date and everyone was excited...some ppl were like omg thank u cuz now we have an excuse to not travel to see other inlaws

but since we're doing ours the day before our families are hosting thanksgiving the next day for anyone who wants to come at fh's house

when we went to book (which at the time was 2 yrs before the date) ppl had already booked thanksgiving and the day after at my rh!!!

as far as pricing...nov was off season and we got a weekday rate.

I wouldn't mind going to that. Family then can have the best thanksgiving the day before.. that can be your rehersal or gathering time and the next day you can party it up again. WONDERFUL! and as stated the rates are cheaper

we went to a wedding last year the night BEFORE thanksgiving...and it was great! no one even seemed to think anything about the fact that the next day was thanksgiving. so i'm sure the night after thanksgiving would be fine!!

Go for it, you will prob get the best price pp, and everyone has off that Fri so they wont have to rush out of work for the wedd

why not?? rates will probobly be great!!! and alot of people will already be in town for thanksgiving most likely!!
