personalized roses as place cards

Hi girls! I ma trying to think of a cute place card idea since I just found out that i cant do the votive candles at my hall. Does anyone know if a calligrapher can write the couples name and table on a real rose. My theme is pink roses, and I thought that would be a cute idea of people just picked their rose out of a bouquet with their name on it. What do you think?

I don't know about that...a calligraphy tip is sharp and may rip the petal. What about making leaves from cardstock and attaching those?

Re: personalized roses as place cards

There is a company that prints on roses, but I forget the name of it. I looked into it, but it was ridiculously expensive. The guy I talked to did recommend, as the pp suggested, tying cards with their names to roses in the shape of leaves.

Re: personalized roses as place cards

How? To write on a rose petal it would have to be tiny and hard to read. And what if the petal then fell off? Or am I not visualizing it correctly? The ones that write on the rose petals are really expensive, and they write on a petal, not on the rose flower. I think if you tried, you'd damage the rose too much. How about what someone else said and tie a fake leaf on the rose with the information? Or use paper cut out in the shape of a rose.

Re: personalized roses as place cards

I am making pink rose lollipops and adding tags with names and table number. I am also putting a tag on each lollipop like a favor tag so they will be doing double duty for me. For each couple i will put 2 together and tie with pink ribbon.
There was another post that suggested inserting the sticks in to styrofoam and making it a garden with grass etc. I'm thinking about that. It depends how long it takes to make the lollys!
