junebride04 and february bride...honeymoon stuff
I'm so happy to hear some feedback on Anguilla, St. Martin and St. Barts. They don't seem to be as popular as many other Carib islands, and it's rare to hear about them here.
We are staying at Le Meridien L'Habitation way up north in Anse Marcel (French side). Are you familiar with the area or hotel??
We're about 95% set on some time on St. Barts. My manager's travel plans got messed up and the house his family rented will be vacant for two days-so they offered it to us. It's just a matter of logistics.
Wow, febbride-Cap Juluca? Looks spectacular. We are renting a vacation home on Anguilla. We thought it sounded fun and a little different.
I'd appreciate any tips, advice, opinions! Thanks!!

Re: junebride04 and february bride...honeymoon stuff
We stayed at the La Samanna resort in French St. Martin. It was absolutely fabulous...we were waited on hand and foot and we weren't even there on our honeymoon! We had a beachfront room, when we opened up our balcony door our feet touched the sand! The resort had its own private beach and that's where we lounged everyday. I reccomend going to Grand Case in St. Martin for dinner. There are a lot of nice restaurants to go to. In St. Barths you MUST go to St. Jean beach. It is secluded and very romantic (That is actually were my now FH proposed to me! ) and the water is breathtaking....Its the second top beach that I have been to. I have never been to Anguilla, but I have heard it's amazing there as well. Great choices for your honeymoon! Hope this helps!

We stayed at Le Meridien for the 2 nights in St. Martin - the hotel was nice, the rooms were fine. St. Martin is a very nice island - hilly and lush...but crowded. (we went during president's week). You are away from all the crowds in the Le meridien.
Then we went to Anguilla Although the island is not much to look at -- not very lush and flat. The beaches are amazing! Warm, clean, everyone on the island is sooooo friendly. Cap Juluca was outstanding! I HIGHLY recommend it. It was truly paradise.
Definitely go snorkeling and take a sunset cruise....breathtaking!!
You will not be disappointed!

Re: junebride04 and february bride...honeymoon stuff
Hi ladies, thanks for the feedback!
We realized that LeMeridien is a bit off the beaten path...that's why we chose to stay there. Did you rent cars on St. Martin? Febbride, how is the road down to the hotel? We heard its a bit of a white knuckle ride!
Did either of you do the Americas Cup races?
Any must sees or must dos? That is, outside of vegging on the beach??
I'm really, really looking forward to Anguilla. Friends went there years ago for their honeymoon, and they are still talking about it ten years later! We just couldn't budget to a week at Cap, but plan to visit for the day. Did you go to the Dune Preserve to see Bankie Banx??
Did you find American dollars easy enough to use? We've heard not to even bother exchanging for Euros or EC $...that American $ are widely accepted.
Junebride-friend's rental is on Anse Lorient-not too far from St. Jean. Hope this all works out 'cause I really want to see St. Bart. Heard it was unbelievable expensive...true?
Thanks again for all of your advice!!

Re: junebride04 and february bride...honeymoon stuff
We rented a car at the airport -- definitely worth it. We didn't do much on St. Martin...basically just went to the beach and drove around the island. We were in St. Martin the first 2 days of our honeymoon and really just wanted to relax!
Definitely don't worry about exchanging dollars for Euro....american dollars were accepted everywhere.
Not honeymoon related....but I saw in your profile you're getting married at Westbury manor...I was just there this weekend for a wedding. It was terrific! Good luck

Re: junebride04 and february bride...honeymoon stuff
St. Barths is known as the most expensive island in the caribbean...many celebrities frequent the island and there i know that there are mainly villas for rent on the island. it is very chic and there are many expensive boutiques (cartier, roberto cavalli, etc.) all over the island. american dollars are excepted everywhere so you won't have a problem there. i highly recommend it for the beaches and the food....AMAZING! My FH and I can't wait to go back! Good luck with your planning and hope this is helpful!
