My first post on the newlywed board!! How long did it take you to get your marriage license?
I'm just wondering about how long did it take you all to receive your marriage license? I'm anxious to start using my new name.

I got it about 2 weeks after the wedding.

We got ours in the mail while we were on our honeymoon and we were gone for 2 weeks after the wedding.

My license was waiting for us when we got back from our Honeymoon, we were gone 6 days.

Congratulations and welcome aboard!!!
It takes about 2 weeks to get your license, but you have to go change your name at SS first before you can use your married name because legally you're still under your maiden name!! Go either first thing in the morning or right before they close. You're in and out and the new card comes back w/in 2 weeks!

As soon as I came from my HM the marriage license had alredy came in.

Just so you don't worry too much, mine wasn't there when I got back from my honeymoon! I don't remember when it did arrive, but it was certainly within a month. :-)

Thanks for the info ladies. And Thanks JennRenee for welcoming me to the other side. I feel like I have been initiated into a new club.Does anyone know where I'm supposed to go to get my SS info changed? Do I need to do that at a city hall? I thought I needed the marriage licence to do that...And is there a charge?

I went to the social security office in Patchogue.Yes, you do need your marriage certificate. Dont remember if there was a fee. I dont think there was.If it was, it was like 2-3 dollars.
