4th of July weekend brides
Has anyone blocked hotel rooms yet? I have been looking into it and they are all telling me a minimum of 2 nights for the holiday weekend. Not only that but it has to be Friday night and Saturday night. Our wedding is Friday night, why would someone want to stay Saturday night too?
Any suggestions? I am getting married in Smithtown.

Re: 4th of July weekend brides
I blocked rooms at the Wyndam Wind Watch in Haupauge. I am getting married on a Saturday, so I am not really sure if they have the same deal that you have just described. But call and speak with Lisa if the Wyndam is anywhere near your reception. She was very pleasant to deal with. So I have heard - FH took care of that

Re: 4th of July weekend brides
sheesh! We've made some inquiries, but haven't actually blocked the rooms yet. No one has told us that (the wedding's in Huntington), but I'll have to see if that's in the fine print! Thanks.Alternatively, maybe check out a hotel that does mostly business business?!? ok, that was a weird sentence. Anyway, they are looking at a pretty empty hotel on a holiday weekend and may be able to cut you a better deal.
What area are you looking at for hotels? I might have some ideas...

oops! sorry, I just looked at your post and found your reception location. Maybe check out Holiday Inn express? It's way down on 347 (just past Nichols), but it might be worth a shot... Also, maybe take a look at the 3 Village Inn.

Re: 4th of July weekend brides
Well so far I looked at Holiday Inn Express, Smithtown Sheraton, and the Windwatch. The Sheraton was the last one I called and they said that who wants to stay in a hotel on 4th of July everyone goes out east blah blah blah. Anyway said they didnt require a minimum. Sure enough my parents went down there this weekend and they said it is a 2 night minimum and they dont know who would have said that. I have the girls name and everything, doesnt matter. I was so aggrevated!

I haven't looked into it yet. I only need about 4-6 rooms, so I don't think I have enough to 'block'.I am sending out STD magnets with our christmas cards this year and will include the names of 3 hotels that people can book on their own.

I am also in a bind - my wedding is July 5th in Montauk and every hotel out there wants a four night minimum! I don't think all of my guests want to stay for four nights so I am at a loss as to what to do!Welcome New Vendors
