Wedding day Makeup questions-UPDATED with PICS
I need makeup help from you guys and frankly anyone who has naturally tan or darker skin.I am really having a major makeup issue. I ahd it done and was happy with it till last night when I went out with friends and the topic of wedding makeup (my best friend is tying the knot 3 weeks after me) came up. No one had mentioned my makeup till then but all of a sudden, when i mention the girl who suggested all the colors on my face (which i was happy with) was going to be doing my makeup, my best friend gave me her signature 'I really want to say something bad but I won't because don't want to hurt your feelings,' look. I called her out and she said it was nothing, I kept pressing her and all she said was, 'you're happy with her? You really like her work?' then she gave me the look again.
I asked her if she thought it was too expensive and she shook her head. Her twin finally had to tell her to kncock it off and the topic was changed, but now when I look at the makeup I feel like a whore-I never wear much to begin with but I feel its too 'colorful' yet I have very golden tan skin so neutrals make me look dead.
I am looking at Eva Mendes's makeup to see what colors she wears but can anyone else suggest a latina model/actress or post any pictures of themselves or friends who had their makeup done? Thanks in advance guys.

Re: Latina Girls....or ANYONE with a tan for wedding day! :)
Your makeup looks great. maybe my main issue was the red lipstick is just too harsh. I wanted to wear red beacuse I want to draw it up to my face somehow-wearing red shoes. But the natural seems to look better.

Re: Latina Girls....or ANYONE with a tan for wedding day! :)
Thanks..I Know but unfortunately traditional hispanic familes..oye...Lets just say we know ALL about the guilt and no matter how reasonable, intelligent and modern we are, as soon a sour family starts with el chime, we cave like a house of paper cards, Hispanic female relatives ona mission of destruction are worse than Al-Queda terrorists. I dont want to hear the 'Look at that!' whispers all night long. I'll look at the girl you suggested. Thanks again.

Being Latina and TAN...this was hard for me!The day came and went but I wasnt thrilled with my look at my wedding.
I felt I needed so much more and even though I had makeup on, it didnt look like much in the pics.
I did use Jamie Lynn Siglers pics. I always felt that she looked amazing!

Re: Latina Girls....or ANYONE with a tan for wedding day! :)
Listen...you can't have worse skin tone than me! I'm Olive complexion...you know triguena. In the summer I'm even darker! I had a hard time w/ the make up also, mainly because of my eyes. One artist made my eyes too dramatic and used all the wrong colors. Another artist hardly did anything at all. The last artist did a really nice job on the eyes, she gave me a shape and worked w/ my complexion to match evenly. It was airbrushing and she worked a few other tricks of the trade. Granted, I'm not used to the dramatic make up but I figured, it's my wedding, and I want my pics to stand out, so I'll just get it done. She used colors that JLo would use, like Sunset colors or mauvy colors.... Look in my album.

Re: Latina Girls....or ANYONE with a tan for wedding day! :)
Thanks guys! I did my own makeup again. Have to post the pics this weekend because FH has the import plug. It didnt look bad. Actually it looked like I was wearing waaaay less makeup than I actually was. I felt weird at home because it seemed like so much color on my face but in the sunlight you couldnt even tell I had it on-just around the eyes where I used black liner so I am going to have to apply it more heavily lol. Feel like a drag queen-after the photos I can always blot some of it off. The girl at Sephora did say to go heavier handed but I didnt believe her. Oops to me.I used orangey tones-bronzer and no blush but I might try blush over it next time. definetly black liner and mascara. Lips are still a toss up. I'll wait to see what folks say from the pics.

FM me if you would like the name of girl that does amazing makeup for latinas or women of color (She's hair stylist in NYC, but she also does makeup on the side). My cousin is in a latin dance company so HELLO! lol most of the girls are latinas. I can also send you the link to her dance company (lots of pics of their makeup).
Sorry I can't relate. Go figure, my fiance and I are both 100% Puerto Rican, yet we NEED spf 50 or else we look like -->

Re: Latina Girls....or ANYONE with a tan for wedding day! :)
Why dont you post on the vendor board there are tons of makeup artists on there. As a makeup artist myself I would urge you to use a professional because of photographs. You would look AWESOME in some orange/peach tones paired with bronzy browns, but all soft not bright or harsh. You have great coloring to work with. There is no reason that you should be unhappy with your makeup on your wedding day. Ask peoples advice too and tell them to be honest ( when doing it yourself or even having a trial) I hope I helped a bit! FM me and Ill help you with anything! Good Luck!

Do you have any makeup trial pictures, maybe we can help more if you post them. There is a girl on here who has makeup shots in her album. There is a black model ( I know you are not black) and she has beautiful silver shadow on....Looks so hot....I will try and find it for you....

Re: Latina Girls....or ANYONE with a tan for wedding day!-updated with PICS!
Ok so I just found out my friend (MOH) wanted to surprise me with a makeip artist lol. She fessed up when I mentioned I might do my own and bought the makeup. I ended up returning all of it except for the bronzer because I have gotten tons of compliments on it since I started using it. I took some pics with it on just to test out colors so I have an idea what I might like the artist to do-when I have had my makeup done before (cept for the girl at Sephora) I have NEVER liked what they do when they just do their own thing.SO here are some pics...all done by myself so be kind lol. I am going to meet her artist and going to try posting on vendor boards just to see what kind of quotes and responses I get-fact we are in NJ is the pisser.
Me before all makeup-OYE SCRAY I know!
LMAO I TOTALLY had an incident with home-waxing....
Trial No. 1-light lips by the window (aiming for natual light!)

Trial No. 1-light red lips (FH likes the red lipstick and so do I but best friend says she thinks its too much. What do y'all think? Our wedding is all about bright colors:red orange and hot pink and my shoes are red.)

Trial 1-neutral lips (lipstick came off lol cause I was chewing gum and smeared it off-whatcan I say-chew gum like cows chew cud!
)

Re: Latina Girls....or ANYONE with a tan for wedding day! UPDATED WITH PICS!
TRIAL 2Can anyone say SALOON GIRL???? LMAO get me a can can skirt and some cowboys...
Since my blush was too light outdoors in the first trial I tried darker but it was late and well...results were NOT good for the cheeks but I LOVE this lipstick...Im thinking if the whole face is toned down and just gently highlighted, the red lips could look really fierce and classy....
Trial 2-Red lips and TOOO much cheek!

trial 2-Red lips (since I know y;all just need more
)

It sounds to me that the red lipstick goes with your seemingly fun personality, plus it seems to be what you really want, so I vote for that! But, you are very lucky to be a naturally beautiful girl, with or without makeup, so no matter what you choose you'll be a beautiful bride!

Re: Latina Girls....or ANYONE with a tan for wedding day! UPDATED WITH PICS!
i think the pics of the makeup you did looks so great! only thing id say is maybe a little more intensity on the eye shadow but really thats only if you like that look... though i have to say, i thought it was professional til i read you did it yourself! you did a great job.wish i could be more help but i just have some pics in my makeup/hair album that you can check out, most of the girls have tan skin.
ETA: i like Trial No. 1-light red lips!! much better than the really bright red. maybe you could even go a shade somewhere in between those two.

Re: Latina Girls....or ANYONE with a tan for wedding day! UPDATED WITH PICS!
sorry... 'clear girl'
raiding the Latina thread...geez, those two pics are hard... I like them both. Hate to even suggest this because you have to redo your make-up again, but maybe you should wear white or ivory, with touches of red, and then look at it again? In the end, your enviornment (bright lively colors) may make one lipstick better than the other...
frankly, you do a great make-up job.... hire yourself!

Aww thanks honey! I need the head/ears rub and pat-pats today. TOTALLY bombed the test for ym final teaching certification this afternoon..got confused and wrote reverse of what I meant and the multiple choice was flippin RETARDED! WHO THE HELL will ever use some of that info! Wasnt relevant to teaching in NY at all-one question was about the literature trends in Africa after WWII. Heck if I knew!

LOL we welcome all kinds-pink spotted elephants feel free to join us for a peanut or two...
Ok this is the LAST TRIAL before I let aprofessional try their hand!
LOL people started posting before I could load them all! Love you guys though.
Trial #3-neutral lips again-My usual makeup intensified with a touch of pink blush this time over the bronzer.

trial #3-neutral lips Fuzzy closeup. I think I need to intensify the shadows definetly as someone suggested. Maybe darker? I dont want to look hollow-eyed though. No bride of frankensteins need apply!
