Ideas for outdoor weddings

Hi Girls,
I'm curious if anyone has been to an outdoor wedding reception. If so, where was it? What month?
Thanks!

Re: Ideas for outdoor weddings

I went to one in August or September, and mine is in September and will be in my parents backyard!
The one I went to was the most beautiful, quaint wedding I have been to...all green and pink, and the weather was amazing :)

Re: Ideas for outdoor weddings

I wanted one in my mom's yard, but believe it or not, it was too $$$$$

You have to rent a tent as an insurance policy for the weather, and then you also have to rent every table, chair, plate, fork, and glass....

It may be best to go to one of the lessings estates, where they do that stuff for you..... maybe the vanderbilt mansion?

Re: Ideas for outdoor weddings

My sisters was last July, but it was on the water in Maine under a tent. It was beautiful! She kept it pretty simple and there was ay lot of DIY. If you have any questions, feel free to FM me and maybe I can help!

If you look at my pic, that was the wedding site view.

Re: Ideas for outdoor weddings

I wanted an outdoor wedding but unless you can get a nice venue for pratically nothing, be prepared for massive expenses. My MOH is actually getting married 2 1/2 weeks after I am. It is in New Hampshire, at the hirl's camp where her FH's mother and father met when they worked there-his dad is still the head chef. It has sentimental value to her FH because he spent every summer there as a kid while his parents worked at the camp. Its by a lake and beautiful and they got the newly renovated conference room (all windows and new shiny wood-GORGEOUS) for nada (his parents gift to them.) HOWEVER that all said...

They are paying sooooo much in rentals alone-chairs were liek $900.00 because they have to be caretd out there and set up. Linens were another obsecene price plus some other items like plates, forks, and glasses which are INDIVIDUALLY PIRCED! How obscene is that! She told me she is paying close to $2,000 in rentals and that is with settling for wooden folding chairs instead of the nicer ones she wanted.

Catering it out of house so thats another big expense. Not trying to 'scare' you, just want to give you a heads up so you wont be overwhelmed if it turns out differently than you expected. I'm still sad I couldn't have my garden wedding but the place we are having it at is a close second with its greenhouse atmosphere.

BTW-also be prepared for bad weather, which as someone else mentioned, means you would need an insurance policy like a tent. What I had considered (but the jerky woman didnt call me back for 3 weeks so I gave up) was having it at a small restored mansion-they have a permanent tent set up outside so its part of the price. They had the grounds to get married outdoors so you had that atmosphere, but you had the insurance policy built right in and all catering details (plus linens and utensils) were included.
