Repost from 07 board: Need advice re program and mom
OK just had a fight with my mom on the phone. I was talking to her about wedding programs and I mentioned that we are going to include that we were dedicating the ceremony to my grandfather who just passed away two months ago. She got all quiet and was like, 'Well aren't you including other people who have died?' and I was literally confused like, 'Who?' and she goes, 'You had four grandparents' and i was like, yeah but he JUST DIED two months ago and really wanted to come to the wedding, so that makes it a little more recent and I'd like to honor him. So i made the mistake of saying, 'Do you want FH and I to include EVERYONE then, he had four grandparents as well, so am I now going to have 4 pgs of those people that we are holding the ceremony in memory of? ', and she was like 'THOSE PEOPLE?!?!?'. Of course I would put in memory of my recently deceased grandfather, etc. as well as all those we have lost, etc. but I think she's being ridiculous. She was acting like I said, F your parents (whom I also loved dearly but they died 15 and 20 yrs ago), but this is something that I have wanted to do since he died a whole 8 wks ago...am I wrong?AAHHH such fun planning a wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's a great idea to do that. Any you can always put in a sentence or two about everyone else as well...

exactly i would put his name and in the same sentence maybe mention everyone else in general.. 'We would like to honor granpa Joe who recently passed as well as all the family members who couldnt be here with us today'

Thanks girls, this just made me so upset..it kind of came out of left field. I guess it's true that wedding can bring out the worst in people (and not just us brides)!!

I know how you feel. I wanted to put a dedication to my father and FH's father and that's it. However, certain people are offended that I am not including every relative that has ever passed. You try and do something nice......

Re: Repost from 07 board: Need advice re program and mom
maybe u can just list it the deceased in ur program, and still dedicate the ceremony to ur grandpa who just died. i have a section in my program that says 'on this day we lovingly remember . . . . .xxx
grandfather of the bride
xxx
grandmother of the groom'
HTH!!

Re: Repost from 07 board: Need advice re program and mom
Thanks! My thing is kind of like, where do you draw the line, then? FH didnt even know any but one of his grandparents. I guess I am still feeling very raw emotionally about my grandfather's death and to have someone (even my mom) give me a problem about this is just getting me PO'd. I think I'm going to just adopt a 'you cant please everyone' attitude. It's just like it was said above, you try to do a nice thing and someone is always gonna have a problem with it...ughWelcome New Vendors
