Is this just b.s.? from Lillette's regarding swatches

I know I need a swatch of my dress to bring to Barron's when I order a veil. I happened to be in the neighborhood of Lillette's, where I bought my dress. I asked about ordering a swatch, and the lady behind the desk said that Maggie doesn't do that. They only give the shop the samples to show their customers, but they don't order single swatches for brides. HUH? Should I believe this?

And on top of that.....I asked her when she thought my dress would be in. She said, well it usually comes in 2 months before your wedding. So I said, August, and she said, yeah, June. Okay...so let's say I put my dress order in last April rather than October...it was gonna take a whole YEAR for a dress to come in?

Why does this sound like a load of b.s. to me?

Re: Is this just b.s.? from Lillette's regarding swatches

I'm not sure about the swatches but i ordered my Maggie dress in the beginning of July and it came in December 22 and then they were closed for a week for Christmas so I've just had my second fitting and the wedding is in 11 days!
I say order pretty early.....I waited and waited.

Is there a way you can contact the manufacturer and ask them for a swatch directly?

Re: Is this just b.s.? from Lillette's regarding swatches

i think it all depends on who you get sometimes. when we ordered our bm dresses i asked about ordering a wrap the lady was nice enough to cut a pretty decent sample for me off the stores swatch and told me to take it to some fabric stores to find a similar fabric. my friend was asking about maggie swatches and the bridal store ordered it for her (they didnt know what they did with it once it came in though)

try the maggie website. sometimes designers have it set up that you can order swatches yourself....

Their website says you have to contact your retailer and then they'll contact Maggie and get the swatches....I might just try Maggie directly myself.

Thanks everyone!! I really do need a date for when my dress is coming in cuz I definitely need to get my fittings out of the way at least 3 weeks before the wedding cuz I'll be out of town...another reason why I need my swatch as well!! Need to get things done earlier than what is typical!
