Invite question! need major help!

is the middle of next month to early to send out invites for my wedding in may?? we have an A and B list so we wanted to send them out earlier. i was thinking sending them out feb 12th and rsvp by april 27th. AND........ would it be rude to be on the # of seats something like this....

_of 2 will be attending
_of 3 will be attending and so on

I need something like this because my mother in law to be wants to invite child and im saying HELL no and i want the people coming to know its husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend. no friends no child! is that a rude way to put it??

TIA!!!

edit:: do you send out invites 2 to 3 months before??

Re: Invite question! need major help!

I don't think its early at all..... and I don't think that adding the _ out of 2 is not rude. I also know some brides used 2 seats are being reserved in you honor or something along those lines.

Re: Invite question! need major help!

it is customary to send out invites up to 8 weeks before the wedding - and give people @ least 2 weeks prior to the wedding time to RSVP. (i had my rsvp date a month in advance)
so i dont think it is horrific if you sent them out mid-february for your may wedding.

i did not invite any children to my wedding as well - my invites were simply worded Mr. & Mrs. John Doe or Mr. John Doe & Ms. Jane Smith. typicaly when you put 'the doe family' - it indicates children are invited. just stick to you guns - we had a few guests try to ambush their children on us - and we were firm in our no kids policy.

good luck!

Re: Invite question! need major help!

I think it is much too early for you. 12 weeks is the MAX. Should be more like 6-10 weeks.

As far as __2 attending or ___3 attending....
Nope....
Just put ____attending.
No number.

When you address the invites, the names of people on the invites is reminiscient of who is invited....if there are children invited, you can say:
'the Jones Family.'

If you address it as Mr. and Mrs. Jones (not and family) you need to trust your guests that they'll have enough etiquette not to 'assume' others are invited.

Re: Invite question! need major help!

We're sending ours out the last week in February with an RSVP date of April 7th (about a month before wedding) and that should hopefully give us enough time!

Re: Invite question! need major help!

I don't think it is too early but if it were me i'd probably wait until March 1st to send them since they do have until the end of April to RSVP. That's still well in advance of the rsvp and wedding date. (about 2.5 months)

I'm doing the same exact thing, people will get the hint that no more than listed on the invite is invited as far as the timing its perfect

Re: Invite question! need major help!

Hello Date Twin.. I am sending my invites out on March 20th (Dad's Birthday). My RSVP date is April 27th. Whether I have a A or B list..they are all going out at the same time. I don't think there is anything wrong with sending them out in Feb. That's your choice.
