Does anyone else feel 2009 is sooo far away?

Hey, I'm new to the site... I'm planning my wedding for march 2009 but it seems so far away. Everyone says time will fly... I hope so. Has anyone checked out Villa Lombardi's? I was thinking about checking it out. If anyone has any information about it that would be great! Thanks!! Also, Congrats to all of you ladies who are 2009 Brides to be!!!

Congrats on ur engagement and welcome!!!!! Another 09 bride!!! Sorry I haven't been to Villa Lombardi's but from what I've read on this site it seems like a really nice place I know it seems a little far away now but before you know it it will be 2009 and we'll have a whole lot less to stress about.

Thanks.. I'll check out villa lombardi's after Christmas... Yea I know time will fly... I wanted to do a cinderella theme but my FH does not agree... He'd rather do a hockey theme which is totally out of the question. haha oh well what's a bride to do! How about you? Do you have a theme for your wedding?

No theme yet...I'm not even sure on colors. I'm just trying to decide on a reception hall. I've looked at about 20 places so far. The ones we really like so far are Westbury Manor, Larkfield Manor, Leonard's and maybe Inn at New Hyde Park (they're doing a lot of renovations). Swan Club was really nice too but I didn't like the small room they have. I'm having a same wedding with about 50-75 guests.

I was thinking about navy blue and light pink. I saw someone's pictures of their bridal party. They had navy blue dresses and light pink rose bo-k's and it looked gorgeous. I went on Lenord's website it looks beautiful.I live in suffolk so I wanted to find somewhere that was closer to me. I want to have a small wedding also.. it prob end up being 75-100 people.

Yay!!!! Another '09er!!!

It's far, yes, but that's okay!!! We'll be having our engagement parties and sending out invitations in no time!

I've heard lots about VL... all good things from what I can remember!

So, when did you get engaged!? How'd he do it!? Congrats by the way

Thanks... Congrats to you also. I got engaged on Nov 16. Well lets see... he took me back to the place we had our first date and before I realized what was going on he had ring out. It was sooo cute and a total shocker!!! How about you?

That's awesome!

FH proposed on Dec. 14th of last year. It was during finals week... the day before my toughest exam. Needless to say, I failed it and am now repeating the class

I was studying with my nursing classmates when he called and told me to meet him outside. I thought nothing of it since it was our 5 yr anniversary. He told me to pick a restaurant... he wanted to take me out to celebrate for a few. So I ditched the study group and we went to Applebee's

As I was eating, he told me to look down and there was the ring box!!!! Right on the table in front of my plate! I thought it was a joke since he'd always said how he wanted to wait until we were both done with college. He then read me a letter (didn't let me see the ring just yet), got on his knee, opened the box, and asked me to be his wife! The best night of my life!

First, Welcome to the Boards.!!

And, yes sometimes I feel that way but you get more time to plan. The only problem I will have is with the BM dresses. I see alot of dresses I like but by the time I decide to purchase them they may be discontinued.

Thanks. I'm worried about that also. I'm worried that the wedding band that matches my engagement ring will discontiue by the time my FI gets it. I'm sure everything will be fine thou.

Welcome and congrats!! Time does fly ... just beware of things being discontinued. That should be the only hassel doing things so early. (VL) Havent been there but heard its beautiful.

I just got engaged last week...and sadly we cant afford a wedding until 2009 and probably not until summer since I teach! And everyone is also telling me that the time will fly. I am so impatient!! I want to start planning now!! If I am planning a July wedding, whats the earliest you think we can book a reception place?? I cant wait too long!

Welcome to board and Congratulations!!! I agree with everyone, 2009 does feel so far away but time will fly and I think it's almost better this way so you can really take your time and decide on what you want and not feel rushed.

In response to mishmosh514's post, if you fall in love with a reception hall, go for it and book it so you can lock in cheaper prices. I was uncertain of when to book as well thinking it was too soon but FH and I fell in love with a hall and we're booking by January. As long as you look around and you get that feeling and you know in your heart it's the place for you, get those cheaper prices, a wedding date, and show it off to everyone!

don't worry about it being so far away....time will fly...you guys will see...it gives you more time to save and plan for the wedding of your dreams

Time goes quickly! FH and I have been engaged for 14 mths now and our wedding is 11 mths away.......it does drag at times but it really will be here before you know it.

I would suggest to try and book your rehearsal hall and vendors sooner then later, if you can book them in 2006 or early 2007 you better off to lock in prices.

You can book your hall anytime. The earlier the better, especially if you have a particular date in mind. Also, the prices go up every year so you may want to take that into consideration as well.

'07 bride here- who in '05 thought that '07 was soooooooooooo far away. Embrace the time that you have 'cause when you are at your 5 month mark like I am right now- u WILL wish u still have time.
