Holiday Newsletter - opinions please!
I`m in the midst of writing our holiday newsletter to be mailed in our Christmas cards to family and friends. How many of you do this??? I have two questions... How do you start yours (introduction)? And, I`m trying to keep this upbeat, but I so badly want to include how Sept 11 affected us (because it was such a big part of this year`s happenings). Do you think that including about it is a good idea...or should I just gloss over that part of the year??? TIA! --Glory

Holiday Newsletter - opinions please!
Hi there- WE haven't sent a newsletter out since the 'save the date' letters! That seems so long ago. I think it is a good ides- but I had thought it was mostly done by those who have little ones. I would NOT leave out the 9/11 mention. I would suggest putting it in the middle of the message...along the lines of in the midst of all the tradegies that we aas a country and an individual have suffered this year, it reminds us of our most precious gifts- each other. What do you think?

Holiday Newsletter - We just got one
We received one from my husbands cousin and they did include 9/11-- Some mention about it seems like the right thing to do--but with everything you have to do what makes you comfortable Laura

I think a mention of 9/11 is perfectly appropriate -- we are all much more thankful for what we have I think this holiday season because of it. My only problem with newsletters is that they are not personal. So make sure you write a note in the card as well. I agree it is hard to start the newsletter but you could basically start it with Happy Holidays and Welcome 2002! It's been an interesting year for all of us... blah blah blah. You are ahead of me -- I haven't even started thinking of holiday cards -- I'm way behind on that one. :-)

The one time I sent something along the lines of a newsletter I wrote the basic letter but then I went into each one and added personal things that related to that person, put their names at the top, etc. I only had to do about 50, and some did not really change much, but since each had the recipients name, referenced things specific to our relationship and I hand signed them, it was more personal.

That sounds really nice Karen.
Good idea -- I better get moving on my cards.

Holiday Newsletter - what we did
Thank you, Ladies, for the ideas!!! (Hi, Phyl!) I also thought newsletters were mostly for families with little ones, but I see more and more newsletters from people without kids, and they STILL manage to fill an entire page (or two!). I love reading them all the same, so I guess they're not just for Suzy's progress with her piano lessons :-) Our newsletters and cards have been mailed, and I just wanted to say that we did leave in the 9/11 mention as part of the chronological flow of the newsletter. And ultimately, I wish I could write something more personal to each recipient of a letter. I wrote something personal in the card with a signiture, but time was of the essence, so everyone got a generic print of the newsletter. This was our intro: * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Happy Holidays to All! It's the most wonderful time of the year… Warm winter wishes to you-our family and friends. We always enjoy reading holiday newsletters from you (well, those of you who somehow find a spare moment to whip one together this chaotic time of year), so we thought we'd share our time capsule with you, too! Over the past year, we've kept ourselves very busy with new and exciting things…Welcome New Vendors
